The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
It is spread from gamer to gamer by word of mouth, by the internet, and even through magazines! Though Mr Norton, or Nortons Antivirus has said, "It is easy to detect and pickup, but to get rid of it is going to take a lot more than just a simple software program."
So what are it's effects? Some gamers infected with this disease have become complete fanatics towards one console, dismissing all other units as "childish, crap, and having terrible graphics."
Other's have been reported into thinking that others hate the consoles they like because they're made by a certain company, i.e. Microsoft.
The thing is, most of these gamers were in it for fun in the past. They used to enjoy gaming at it's full potential, whether they had one console, or one-hundred consoles! They relied on the games themselves, and not the consoles taking into account the games' finer points when playing.
So what can you do to prevent this virus from destroying the element of fun in your gaming? You can try to correct the problems in others so as to stop the virus reaching you, or you can quite simply ignore them, not listening to any of the filth they say, thus stopping the virus getting to you.
Mr. Yuji Naka of Sega, is one of the only people in the gaming industry to fully recover from the early strains of the virus he caught in the early 1990's. He has been quoted in saying, "I have a dream. I have a dream that someday, gamers from all systems...Sony, Nintendo and even Microsoft....will get along in peace...." Whether this will actually happen is still under speculation.
BBC's Newsround tried to sort this out by letting three children play on all the systems, so as to give fair evaluations of them all. However this backfired when they became selfish and wouldn't let each other play the other two consoles. Liaso from the childrens television show said "I knew it. I knew this would happen. But would the producers listen to me? Like hell they would!"
So here are the main ways of preventing this virus:
****Ignore all comments against systems and make judgements for yourself.
****Stick to portable gaming where there isn't any competition.
****Run away to a deserted island. No contact with other gamers, no chance of getting the virus.
****Get a large hammer and smash your systems.
If you do get this virus, leave the country. Run away whilst you can! There is an angry mob of unbiased gamers heading your way with spiked clubs and anti-bias spray.
So once again, I urge you to take the above advice, make sure you're fully protected (condoms are handy for such circumstances), and play safely.
(Next week: Anna Kournikova virus: Are you having trouble with your Tennis games? Are they in a 'love'-hate waar against each other. Look out for news on this virus next time.)

They both have their good and bad sides, and are both decent games.
