The rain pounded down on the deck of the ship as the waves continually barricaded the sides as it travelled up the river. The moon shone down upon the Officer 215 as he patrolled the parameter of the starboard side. Grunting and groaning he checked every gap in the walls, every life boat that he passed and ever edge over the side to see if there were any ambushes taking place. It had been a long night and one that had not produced any real problems to him… or his team.
*Nothing to report*
Another hour passed as 215 began checking his rounds again. All was as quiet as before with only the calming notion of the running powerhouse of the tanker to keep him company. Bored he decided to put his stereo on, at least now the Rolling Stones would talk to him. The waves could still be heard as he turned the volume up, slowly drowning it out… little did he know about the commotion his other comrade was having.
*215 come in! Its 214, im having troubles…there is someone here! He’s using stealth!*
214 stood still, back pressed against the wall doing all that he could do… listening for the footsteps and the print they leave in the floor to locate the intruder, but he could see nothing. His eyes were shooting all over the place, watching the short area around him, gun poised and aiming into space and his trembling finger frivolously touching the trigger. Cautiously stepping forwards he spun around into space, but still nothing.
*Whack*
Something smacked the back of his head, his breathing raised rapidly…
*Whose there! Show your self dammit!*
*Fine* said a voice
The soldier turned around again, only to find a man with a raincoat over him pointing a gun at his head. 214 dropped his firearm to the floor as he stood still, silently repeating a prayer under his breath.
*Feel better now* said a second voice
*What the hell!?*
Another body came to light as the stealth was deactivated. 214 looked very confused now with two guns pointed to his head. *Who are you?* he asked. The two men looked at each other and nodded, dropping their cloaks as they did.
*You!*
He shouted as Snake and Raiden presented themselves before him, standing there in their skeletal suits. The soldier went straight for his radio trying to make contact with the attack team while trying to run from the scene. Raiden took aim with shear precision shooting the guy in the back, the bullet piercing his flesh ripping through as though it was jelly with a spray of blood poring to the floor. All this at the same time as Snake aimed for his hand shooting the radio as though he had known what was going to happen all along.
214 fell to floor with a thud, smashing his head on the railing knocking the not yet dead body out. But shooting the radio was not the best idea, as it smashed to the floor it sent a ringing disturbance throughout the tanker sending signals back to the position.
215 was back on his rounds still listening to his music when a huge screech could be heard flashing through his ears frightening him out of his wits. Throwing the stereo to the ground his radio sound off.
*Where the hell are you!? 214 is in trouble, get round there now and await the attack team*
Shocked he ran to his comrade as fast as he could, with each corner he twisted and turned, keep a careful eye on the path ahead. The attack team shot out of the door ahead as he joined them, the 6 soldiers ran to there position. 214 lay there dead, but there was no sign of Snake or Raiden, just their footprints in the ground. Carefully following them they raised to the level above. Snake and Raiden could be seen hiding behind two large boxes ahead, the rain had effected there stealth.
*Kill them, we cant let them get into the tanker hold, they will not get the new metal gear!*
*Fire!!!*
They all took aim and fired, all shooting in there direction, bullets pinged of the walls and the metallic boxes around as the two were stranded in there un safe surroundings, there was little they could do, 2 socums were no match for 6 AKU’s. The bullets kept coming, with each clip that was changed followed another 100 rounds of metal aiming at them…until all stopped.
There was no sign of Snake or Raiden, as the rain pored down more than before, visibility was getting harder. The soldiers closed in.
*Ready?* Snake whispered
*Now!*
The two shot up from behind the boxes, aiming, firing for all there lives were worth, there mission was to get inside and these men were not stopping them. The soldiers were bewildered by the attack and totally stunned. Snake aimed for the closest ones head, shooting with all his might as the body fell gracefully to the floor. Raiden too took aim making sure he at least hit a body. The soldiers ran back to take cover, evening out the odds. Reloading their rifles they once again took aim. Standing up and over their new vantage point they fired once more as Snake and Raiden crouched once again. As there clips hit nothing they reloaded, giving Snake his chance. He stood up and once again took aim, Raiden followed as they both retaliated, hitting two more of the soldiers as they were off guard. Down they fell to the horror of the 2 remaining who quickly ducked behind the lifeboats that offered them salvage.
*We cant take these two, we need help!*
*Sending re-enforcements!*
All of them once again crouched behind their shields, Snake thinking what to do. The battle had gone silent, it seemed that no one wanted to take part any more. The two soldiers stood up and ran as there radios sounded. Snake jumped to his feet trying to catch them in his aim, swiftly moving as they ran in and out of the structures ahead, finger increasing on the pressure he almost pulledthe trigger as a huge stoplight was pointed over his body. Gusts of winded prevailed as a huge Hind hovered above him. Snake froze as Raiden grabbed him, pulling him to the side of the ship. The hind lowered, targeting its missiles.
*Its going to fire!* Raiden shrieked
Both gazed into the deep blue that was below, the waves still bellowing at the ship, both looked at each other as the hinds fired. 4 missiles shot down onto the ship. *Boom* as they hit, the ship rocked as the sound echoed through it, sounding like an entity possessing it. A thick fog of smoke surrounded the wrecked area. Bit by bit it cleared reviling what was left.
The shattered platform was empty as the hind flew away.
