OK, this topic may be slightly premature as Ice Age is not on General release yet but there Have been plenty of previews, I saw it about 2 weeks ago.

So three animation flicks, Who's the Daddy? (I hate that Phrase by the way)

My opinions are,

Shrek - Overrated, adult orientated and too many cheep jokes.

Monsters Inc - Fresh and well animated but lacks Disney magic.

Ice Age - Great but not excellent animation, universities appeal and well defined characters.

So, you guessed It, I disliked Shrek, enjoyed Monsters Inc and loved Ice Age. In fact I haven't seen an animation feature film as good as Ice age since The Lion King.

I am sure that Ice Age's charm and appeal comes from the simplicity of storyline and warmth of the characters. Without spoiling the story, by the end of the film you are even feeling sorry for the 'bad guy'.

The only real problem that I can see with Ice Age is that while it's appeal is universal, This appeal will struggle to stretch to an adult audience used to such adult orientated animation as Shrek, Family Guy and Futurama.

Overall taking into account both good and bad points. Ice Age is the kind of film that Disney used to make, fun entertaining animation flicks with lovable characters and happy endings. I for one can't wait until it's released on DVD and hopefully It will be recognised at next years Oscars.

I completley agree. I ain't seen Monsters Inc., so I can't really comment on that, but Ice Age was far more superior then Shrek.

People find it hard to believe, when talking to them, because of all the fuss that Shrek started last year and because it was just something new. We'd seen Toy Story and laughed, but Shrek, was more adult and yet for children at the same time.

Since Toy Story, things have really taken off and you can see just what we're capable of. Ice Age was an unexpected pleasure for me and I'm sure many others will agree. Not only was I not really watching it cos I WANTED to, but merley cos nothing else was on and perhaps thats why I liked it so much, as it was a fun hour and a half.

I thought that Ice Age and Monsters Inc were far better than Shrek, which was simply poor. Ice Age was absolutely superb - there were some really great jokes in there, particularly the evolution of the sloth bit in the ice...
