I was going to crack this one off earlier, but I was late for Uni. But, if you had the misfourtune of being awake at 8:30 this morning and had GM:TV on, you would have seen Keith and his stupid f**king duck singing that stupid song about him flying - but the 'club' remix. It was pant-fillingly awful. And now for the point:
Do you think that an act like this is considered a novelty nowadays? Personally I put it on a par with DJ Pied Piper. 5 or 10 years ago, this would have got away with being one of those random acts of novel-pop (tm) that got in the charts between Pink Floyd and A-ha - and it would have been acceptable. Now that the criteria for what is considered pop music has been substantialy lowered, it doesn't stand a chance...which is a good thing? You decide.

Because true rock is returning to claim it's place as the only rock.

Fred Durst cannot withstand Steve Harris' machine-gun bass swinging.

Incidentally, would someone explain why Iron Maiden are back in the charts? I thought it was some sort of mistake, but apparently not.

You really shouldn't be listening to pop nowadays, but the 'standards' havn't dropped, the main audiences tastes have just changed, for some reason people like garage, so garage is the main seller in the pop charts, it's obvious logic, why stop a good thing? people liked the Pied piper tune as it had some simple words that the small brain public that likes garage music could understand and sing to themselves and think they're cool.

Just like all these re-hashs! can't believe they re-release songs that were made 40/50 years ago with a house beat.
Football songs also go don well, they're usually played at clubs and drunk lads think they're cool by singing them on their way home.

highlights of new pop:

Kyles career focusing on her bum.

Steps splitting up and to never be heard from again (they'd better not sing on SM:TV - not that i's watch it without Ant&Dec...)

Mariyah Carey being dropped by her record label (yesterday) so now she'll be on tv more having interviews and the like so i'll see more of her...(yummy) shame she looks a little chubbier now *sigh*

anyway, novel tunes are always a big hit, Bob the Builder? i'm so happy that was just a phase in Kids Tv, also with the Tweenies, but, they sell well, if I had a record label i'd release that crap to make money.

anyone would.

same as making a game like Spice girls *sigh* why would you?...because it makes lots of money.

I had the original, pity I haven't still got it as it may have been worth a few quid.

I have also met them, well met as in the context that I have said hello, stroked orivl and got really exited at meeting them (please remember this was in my childhood and I am NOT in the habit of stroking stuffed green animals with someone's hand stuck up their ....).

Now before I die of complete embarrassment, can anybody remember that other annoying stuffed twit ....... his sidekick was Emu?

Bad is good until it becomes overpowering. Eventually there gets so much bad stuff that it clouds over the good stuff.

Bit like FOG chat really. Theres a few good posts in there (neilc's posts spring to mind) but its often so disheartening trying to find them that you give up. Never want this situation with movies/music.

I agree though, a FEW bad examples are, in a sense, good. A FEW posts about 'how much the gaycube sucks' can be good to emphasise the better quality posts.

Well.

Yes, the standards have fallen really damn far. But it's going to be really, really good if something comes along and changes it all.

In my opinion, it's the same with films, and definitely with games. It just needs one utterly amazing film to come along, or one utterly amazing game to come along, and we can change our perspective forever.

Bad is good, definitely.
