Do you have to put it in each time you want to watch a movie?
Will it invalidate the warranty?
Questions,questions,questions?
I'd appreciate some input.
Thanks.

But what i've heard is that the Xbox detects which remote you use first, and then any other different region remote wont work. So if you have a region 1 remote and region 2 remote for a UK machine, and you use the region 1 remote first. Then the region 2 remote wont work with your Xbox. I dont know if this is actually true, but there have been some rumors going around that it is true.
Region-x would be cheaper than buying a remote for region 1.
Personally I think that region-x is a good thing to have. I have one for my PS2 and can say that for the £20 its well worth it if you want tons of region 1 DVD's.
On top of the £30 for the DVD remote, this is a rip off. Wait for an "unoficial" patch that a hacker writes that lets you permanently change the region!
Or alternatively, I've heard that if you buy a US (Region 1) remote and plug it into a Region 2 XBox, it will allow you to play Region 1 DVDs. Not sure if this is true or not, but I do know that there is no security or regionalisation in the XBox itself. All it knows is what region it is, but leaves the security up to the developers to implement.
This being the case, the Region encoding for the DVD player could well be in the IR dongle that you plug in.
