DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW THE MGS2 STORYLINE

I love Metal Gear Solid 2, dont get me wrong. Its the greatest game in existence.

But am I the only one who was left thinking that the REAL story was..... well, boring? Yes its a piece of genius, with more twists and turns than a er.. very twisty turny thing. But wouldn't it have been so much more exiting if the real story WAS that a group of cool freakish terrorists lead by solidus had stolen a huge weapon of mass destruction?

Not all the waffle about 'passing on more than just DNA' and 'discovering who we really are'! The twists and backstabbing are all very entertaining, but the real story is well, lame!

I was thrilled, and hooked by the story for 3 quarters of the game. 'purified hydrogen bombs' and 'nuclear blasts into the atmosphere' were all highly entertaining and the prospect of them occuring was, really pretty cool. Even the idea that the whole world is secretly controlled by a group of unidentified 'Patriots' was scarilly believable. But genes and DNA? is anything fiction or fact? SAY WHAT? NO! give us bombs, guns, and evil madmen with plots to eliminate world leaders.

Why then?

I think Mr Hideo Kojima got himself a little carried away. The pressure on him to come up with an amazingly complex and entertaining storyline to go with the game was immense. MGS2 was the most anticipated game ever (and rightly so) He may have tried a little too hard to impress.

Or maybe, just maybe, after september 11th he was forced to make the storyline a bit tamer in order to avoid offending people? Yes the world has changed a lot recently. But I think Metal Gear Solid 2 changed its mind a little to many times during the 15+ hours of your life it consumed.

So, MGS2 was still a piece of genius, but for MGS3, lets have a bit more coolness to the 'truth' and a few less sentimental stories about 'discovering ourselves' please.

Kojima-san really did lose the plot at the end of the game with all the "let's save the world for our children" rubbish!

If theres anything that really got to me with MGS2, its when that stupid cow calls you and gets all lovey dovey when your trying to save the president and sneaking around trying to get past or kill guards.

Can almost imagine a SWAT team getting into a building to stop a terrorist group. Right when their about to burst through the door and surprise the group, one of their mobile phones rings. "Hello ?? Mum ! I'm Working ! ........Yes Mum I am eating right. Yes the kids are fine. Look Mum I really need to get off the phone !"

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
