Does that mean i'm too young and can't buy the games myself? Yes.
Does that mean i'm careless and will go act out scenes I see from violent games? I'll leave that to you.
Personally, I think its stupid that there are age restrictions on things such as this. Obviously, a game with an 18 Certificate will attract the eyes of kids (and not only them) who think its 'cool' to play a game which they 'aren't old enough' to play. But, does the 18 mean that these kids won't be playing the game? No, it definately doesn't. Some parents don't mind thier kids playing violent games such as this and are quite happy for them to sit and do what they do. Sure, some will say that its disgusting but everyone who wants to play this game will play it sooner or later.
Does it mean that people under 18 are stupid, wreckless, careless, thoughtless and unfit to play the game? Err, hello? There's millions of people over the age of 18 who are crazy and will play this game. They might get ideas from it.
I'm sorry to go into this subject but think about the Washington Sniper. How old was he? 40-50? So, now everyone knows he's a lunatic... is he unfit to play the game? There's tons of shooting with sniper rifles, brutal murders and all for one persons entertainment. Answer: No, because he's over 18.
When I was in primary school, the class was all told how well we was progressing with our work. It was phrased like this: "Great stuff, you have the mental abilities of a 13 year old." - when I was 9. So does that mean if I have the mental abilities of an 18 year old now (when I am 16), can I go out and buy an 18 rated game, watch an 18 rated film...? No.
Can an 18 year old who has the mental abilities of a 10 year old go out and buy the game? Yes.
This is what I think annoys me the most. The 18 certificate allows *anyone* of the age 18 or above to purchase or watch the 18 rated material. But those people may be the ones who were crazy and get ideas from the games.
Just imagine if everyone above the age of 18 was now thought of as an age lower than 18. So your parents and mates were 5, 8, 12, 15 etc... but because they are 'grown up', can they still buy the 18 rated stuff?
Do I have to 'grow up' first? Am I not sensible and responsible enough already? You think im going to go crazy and butcher people with a chainsaw whilst pulling a 'wheely' off a stolen motorbike? Hah. I think not.
I can understand a shop not selling me the game because i'm not 18, and the law will be on to them quicker than a flea on steriods but what i'm disagreeing with, is the people who make these laws. I don't think they see the big picture of what I have talked about above. Sure, im going to get the game on Friday. Even if it means my parents making a show of me in the middle of town and buying it for me, I dont mind. But they trust me with the game and know what I see on a video game such as this won't influence my actions in life.
Ok, so maybe i'm a little upset that I can't get these things for myself, but I know there will be thousands of people out there who will be upset aswell when they are turned down as they approach the counter with thier 18 rated Vice Cities and Erotic Witch Box Sets. The frowns on thier faces.
So, could you give me a break and think about what i've said please, without acting 'childish'. Maybe *you* shouldn't be the one who's not allowed to purchase the game this Friday.
Age is just a tiny thing. But can play such a major role in today's world.
Thanks.
Matt.

Having a card shows some sort of responsibility.
Anyway, are you getting Vice City because it's red certificate?
No. It's because you know it's a good game.
If a card is the only way to get it, then bending the rules won't hurt.
Now if purchasing it made you all excited because you'd done something "naughty", that would be the youngster you don't want to be.
If you treated just like any other game purchase, what's immature about that?

You gotta wonder why they asked the question in the first place and what would actually have put them off buying the game for their kid.
And when Little Jonny takes pot shots at people with his air rifle and blames it on the "evil" game, nobody bothers with the fact he was a criminal in training before having the game, it's al the game's fault.
Anyway, parents need to use some common sense. I've refused about 30 people at work this weekend for GTA vice, half of which have come back with parents who have invariably asked questions about what it features, and mostly for kids about 12-14 ish.
So I tell them - Carjacking, murder, guns, executuions, sex, swearing, drugs and so on - and they go "okay then", and buy it anyway. Braindead parents or what eh ?
Certificate 18 games/videos exist for a reason, and I don't know what the fuss is about anyway, just get a parent to buy it if you must. Rockstar made sure it'd get an 18 so they could sell it anyway...

Well, I'm going to vote for no ratings. ( like the goverment are ever going to put it to the vote!)

The thing is, I dont want to get a card and buy stuff off the net. I want to be seen as a responsible person instead of a youngster who will go crazy because I have an 18 game.
Ah well, thanks anyway.
:-)
Most people have simple answers to these red certificates - get the parents to buy it, the same parents who then try to sue the industry when the game supposedly turns their child into a psychopathic killer...
If your parents are like mine, and have moral onjections to have you see unsuitable material or, in the case of certain videos, you don't want them to know what you're getting ;-), get yourself a Visa Electron card (you can when you're 16) and buy stuff either online or by phone.
Many places don't accept electron (like SR :-( ), but some sites like Amazon do.
And if you still can't get it for whatever reason, 2 more years of waiting won't hurt! :-)
