So when I bought Ghostbusters yesterday, it was with a little fear that I decided to watch it. Back in 1984 this movie ruled. I didn't see it until a few years later, but loved it when I did see it. Immediately Peter Venkman, Ray Stanz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zedmore became heroes to be. They were the Ghost Busters and they were cool.
Last night, to my great relief, they did it again. They're still cool. As they say "We came, we saw, we kicked it's ass." They sure did. This film was better than when I last saw it. Probably because it wasn't cut to fit a specific time-slot on TV. Maybe the touching up of the sound effects which made it sound great with my surround sound speakers helped too. Most of all though, it's just a great story, with an excellent script.
Bill Murray is just so funny in this movie, with every line he delivers raising a smile. But the story is just fantasic. The Stay Puft marshmallow man comes to destroy the world. There's genius behind that, that's for sure.
Ghost Busters still rules. It didn't let me down. Sigourney Weaver growling like a dog, and Rick Moranis becoming the Keymaster, excellent.
Top music too. Not just the Ghostbusters theme (which I bet is now playing in your head) but all of the music used in the film. When they're wandering up the steps, the comical music plays, there's also examples of typical 80's rock AND synth, which brings back memories.
Everyone should own this movie.
Also the ghostbusters theme is a good tune for karaoke, BUSTIN' MAKES ME FEEL GOOD!!
Actually i still do harbour a secret inclination to hitch on my 'proton pack' and kick some phantom butt.
I think watching it today (as opposed to when I was young) I can fully appreciate the genius comedy timing of messers Murray and Aykroyd.
WHO YA GONNA CALL?
