I hear a lot of nostalgia on these forums, most about the 'golden era' of gaming, as people like to call it. You know the time, the SNES and Mega Drive age, when the two consoles were battling it out for poll position in the 2D arms race. Righty. Classic games were abound, and you couldn't go a month without a great game turning up here or there. It is from here that greats such as Mario Kart, Street Fighter and Doom appeared, yet what worries me is something more.

Back in those days, I played much more on my PC. I don't know why, but for some reason nobody talks about nostalgic PC games. I have great memories of tons of games, not to mention the great Whacky Wheels, which I'm sure was the first karting game, since it was released before Mario Kart. Anyway, I decided to set up a forum to talk about these PC games.

I haven't heard about anybody talking of things like Lemmings. I remember spending ages on this great game. And other games, like Cosmo, Duke Nukem, Commander Keen, Monster Bash, 'Rally', Outrun, 'Ski', Paganitzu and tons of others. Am I the only person to have experienced the true mastery of Apogee, what was at that time to gaming what Rareware is now. True class.

This forum is for those of us who do remember, so come on, have a good old banter on the topic. Go on, treat yourself.

*POP!*

Sorry, I just can't bear to see my Llamatron plug slip down the list like that. Download it now. Your life is empty without it!

My favourite PC game is still Llamatron. It's shareware and still available: http://www.gamesdomain.com/directd/1131.html
Honestly it's fantastic: well worth 250k of anyone's hard drive.

Not Crazt Taxi! => Quarentine! (spelt wrong in first post, oops)

Quarentine is like Crazy Taxi but helluva lot better!

Is was darker n seedier. You ran people down and they went splat on ya window! You put buzzsaws on the front of your taxi! Had to buy guns so that you could turn the camera round to look out of the window n shoot people as you went past!

It was a QUALITY game!

I can't remember what it was called... splodge or sommat but you had to use certain items to bounce a ball around the screen.

You have to get it at the exact angle or the red spot would hit spikes.

Nasty... i can remember getting to the 7th level where You had to bounce it through 3 rooms without making a mistake.

Another game I remember must have been one of the first 3-D games on the PC.

You were this bug and you had to walk around collecing crystals... an early version of Croc! Me thinks... ah the memories...!
