Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock
Two icons in sports entertainment will battle it out on March 17 to determine who is the greatest superstar of all time. Hollywood Hulk Hogan will go one-on-one with the Great One at WrestleMania X8, and you can rest assured that it will go down as a monumental event in sports-entertainment history!
It's the match that sports-entertainment fans have dreamed of for years -- and it's finally becoming a reality!
Hollywood Hulk Hogan and The Rock are perhaps the two most decorated superstars in the history of sports entertainment. From winning titles to starring in movies to being ambassadors for the sport, the two men are clearly icons in the industry.
Never man is a stranger to WrestleMania. Hogan was the focal point of the very first WrestleMania in 1985, and competed in the first nine WrestleMania events. And The Rock has been at every WrestleMania since 1997 -- participating in the main event every year since 1999.
Hogan epitomized wrestling's first boom in the 1980s. The Rock epitomizes wrestling's latest boom, from the 1990s to today.
It will truly be a dream match-up -- Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock at WrestleMania.
MY PREDICTION: We've seen The Rock perform under pressure a lot lately, and come out a winner. I could easily see WWF taint this, so that he doesn't win at WM, or we could just have another dull victory for Rocky. I think that Hogan will win, with some help from his NWO cohorts. It won't be easy, but Hogan can pull it off, and he COULD do it without the help of the NWO.
Undisputed Championship
Triple H vs. Chris Jericho
On the Feb. 18 episode of RAW, Triple H regained his status as the No. 1 contender for Chris Jericho's Undisputed Federation Championship. After coming back from a major leg injury, will The Game be able to become a five-time Federation Champion? Will Y2J be able to overcome his greatest threat to his Undisputed Championship?
Since returning from his torn quadriceps muscle, Triple H has had one goal -- to once again become the World Wrestling Federation Champion. The Game hasn't been champion in nearly two years (he last held the title in June 2000), and to capture the title would be the culmination of his eight months of torturous rehabilitation.
Standing in his way is Chris Jericho, the first Undisputed Champion in sports-entertainment history. Y2J is also the man who helped put Triple H on the shelf last May, having locked him in the Walls of Jericho after The Game had already tore his quad.
Adding to the turmoil is the fact that Stephanie McMahon -- Triple H's soon-to-be ex-wife -- will be in Chris Jericho's corner. Although Jericho and Stephanie have been enemies for years, they have agreed to put their past problems behind them in an attempt to overcome a common enemy -- Triple H.
Will Triple H realize his dream, and prove that all his hard work has been worthwhile? Or will the wily Jericho and the evil Stephanie stop The Game dead in his tracks?
MY PREDICTION: I think it's quite safe to say that The Game has caught the short end of the stick on many occasions lately, and I can see this building up as anger until the match, where he will pulverise Jericho and eventually capture the title, after disposing of Stephanie, of course.
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall
For weeks now, these two men have been toying with each other mentally, as well as physically. Will Stone Cold be too much for the Bad Guy to handle? Or will Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash assist Hall in his quest to permanently dismember the Rattlesnake?
At No Way Out, Stone Cold Steve Austin challenged Chris Jericho for the Undisputed World Wrestling Federation Championship. During the bout, the nWo attacked the Rattlesnake, with Scott Hall giving Austin a Stone Cold Stunner! That attacked helped Y2J pin Stone Cold to retain his title.
Since then, Austin has been on a rampage. He kidnapped Hall on an episode of SmackDown! and tortured him in the ring. Hall responded by challenging Austin for WrestleMania, and shortly after Austin accepted, Hall viciously broke a cinderblock over the Rattlesnake's injured knee!
Stone Cold represents World Wrestling Federation Attitude. Scott Hall represents the nWo, and WCW's rise to prominence briefly in the late 1990s. And now, these two icons meet head-to-head in a battle for dominance!
MY PREDICTION: I can see an easy win for Austin - no frills, no messing about, just a few minutes of technical wrestling, them BAM! Stone Cold Stunner, 1, 2 3. He may have to get rid of the NWO, but he should be able to do it.
Intercontinental Championship
William Regal vs. Rob Van Dam
After winning a three-way No. 1 contender's match on the Feb. 25 episode of RAW, RVD solidified his one-way ticket to WrestleMania X8 to challenge William Regal for the Intercontinental Championship. Will the Englishman's mat skills bring him another win, or will RVD's high-flying attack lead him to victory?
Last year at WrestleMania, William Regal was the challenger for the Intercontinental Championship, and the Federation's goodwill ambassador fell short to Chris Jericho in that contest.
This year, Y2J is the Undisputed World Wrestling Federation Champion, and Regal enters WrestleMania having finally captured the IC Title. Since defeating Edge for the championship at Royal Rumble, Regal has blazed a path of victories with the help of his brass knuckles -- the power of the punch.
In his first WrestleMania, Rob Van Dam will get the opportunity to capture the coveted Intercontinental Championship in front of over 60,000 fans at SkyDome and millions more on Pay-Per-View. RVD recently topped Regal in a non-title match in just seconds, but now the title is on the line at the biggest show of the year.
Can Regal escape Toronto with his championship? Or will Rob be the whole Dam show at WrestleMania?
MY PREDICTION: For me, this is a hard one to call, but I'll go with RVD picking up a reasonably easy win, thanks to the 5 Star Frog Splash, 1, 2, 3. Regal will put up a fight, probably use some brass knucks, but it's nothing RVD can't handle :0)
Ric Flair vs. Undertaker
This battle has grown incredibly personal in recent weeks, with Taker taking out his aggression on Ric's best friend, Arn Anderson, and on Ric's oldest son, David. Can Taker improve his WrestleMania record to a perfect 10-0? Or will the Nature Boy come up big at the biggest show of the year?
Throughout his storied World Wrestling Federation career -- spanning over 11 years -- the Undertaker has never lost at WrestleMania. Since making his 'Mania debut at WrestleMania VII in 1991, Taker has posted a perfect 9-0 record at the event.
But to go 10-0, he will have to go through Ric Flair, arguably the greatest in-ring performer of all-time, and unquestionably the "dirtiest player in the game."
This rivalry has grown intensely personal in recent weeks, with Taker focusing his anger towards Flair on Ric's best friend, Arn Anderson, and on Ric's oldest son, David.
What happens when icons clash? Find out at WrestleMania X8!
MY PREDICTION: I'd say it's almost blatantly obvious that Flair will pick up the win, because he's been screwed with so much in the past weeks that it only makes sense to hand him some of his dignity back, and allowing him to defeat the Undertaker is the perfect remedy.
Tag Team Championship
Billy & Chuck vs. APA vs. Hardys vs. Dudleys
The Tag Team Championship has changed hands at the last two WrestleMania events -- and the Hardys and Dudleys have been a part of both of those matches. Will history repeat itself this Sunday at WrestleMania?
For the third year in a row, the Dudleys and Hardys are involved in a Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania. But whereas the first two times, the teams were involved in TLC Matches, this year they will be involved in a Fatal Fourway Elimination Match. And whereas the Dudleys and Hardys have never won a Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania before, this year they stand the best chance ever.
History is not on Billy's side. Billy has been in two Tag Team Championship matches at WrestleMania events before, both times losing his titles. Add in the fact that he's got a rookie partner, and the fact that the Dudleys and Hardys are WrestleMania tested, and the fact that the fourth team is the rough-and-tumble APA, and the fact that the Tag Team Championship has changed hands at the last two WrestleMania events, and you come to the realization that anything can happen when the Tag Team Championship is on the line!
MY PREDICTION: A shame it isn't TLC, but it will do. The Hardy's haven't had a decent title reign for such a long time, and not only do they deserve it, but their opponents in this match stink terribly (excluding Dudleys). Dudleys will probably go out first, and we'll have a showdown between Hardys and one of the stinky teams. However, I'm not too confident that Hardys can win, because you know how the WWF like to book things - nice and controversial, swerving you at the last second.
Women's Championship
Jazz vs. Lita vs. Trish Stratus
Jazz has been a dominant force in the Women's division, but can she withstand the attack of two of the Federation's most talented divas? And can Trish bring home the title in her hometown of Toronto?
No woman has ever dominated the Women's division as Jazz has. Since entering the Federation at Survivor Series, Jazz has been a brutal competitor, working her way up to the Women's Championship.
But Lita and Trish Stratus are certainly no strangers to that title. Lita reigned as champion for three months in late 2000, and Trish held the title from Survivor Series until losing it to Jazz in February. Both divas are seasoned competitors who know how to get the job done.
Perhaps it is Trish who has more on the line than anyone. The sultry diva is a Toronto native, and would love nothing more than to regain the title in front of her friends and family!
MY PREDICTION: Lita is the most experienced wrestler in the ring, and she deserves to win it, as she hasn't had a decent title reign for a while. Trish should stick to the lingerie commercials and Jazz should have another good title reign down the line, but not now, now is Lita's time to shine.
Kane vs. Kurt Angle
It's Kane against Kurt Angle ... the Big Red Machine against the Big Red, White and Blue Machine ... a 7-foot monster against your Olympic hero -- and there can only be one winner!
Neither Kane nor Kurt Angle are strangers to success in the World Wrestling Federation.
Kane is a Grand Slam Champion, having held the World Wrestling Federation Championship, Intercontinental Championship, Tag Team Championship, and the Hardcore Championship, which he won last year at WrestleMania.
Angle is also a Grand Slam Champion -- having held the Federation Championship, Intercontinental Championship, European Championship and Hardcore Championship.
The last time these two men fought one-on-one was on an episode of SmackDown! late last year, and many superstars agree that it was one of the best TV matches of late 2001. Now, the two are on a collision course for WrestleMania, and on the grandest stage in sports entertainment, anything can happen!
MY PREDICTION: Angle has a killer instinct and has been on a role lately, but Kane hasn't had a push in such a long time, and so I think he will destroy Angle, bringing him one step closer to that title shot that he so undoubtedly deserves.
Edge vs. Booker T
One is a five-time WCW Champion and the most decorated superstar in WCW history. The other is a seven-time Tag Team Champion, a four-time Intercontinental Champion and a Toronto native. Who will come out on top at WrestleMania?
There were 67,678 fans on hand at SkyDome in Toronto for WrestleMania VI in 1990, and one of those people was Adam Copeland. Wearing his Hulk Hogan T-shirt, Copeland sat in his ringside seat and watched all the action, dreaming of one day being a performer on that same stage.
Fast forward 12 years. Copeland is now Edge, one of the fastest-rising superstars in sports entertainment. He has been a Tag Team Champion on seven occasions -- having won two of those at WrestleMania events -- and Intercontinental Champion on four occasions, the first of those coming at a Federation live event at SkyDome.
But March 17 may be the biggest night yet for Edge. He's in his hometown of Toronto, competing at WrestleMania. A boyhood dream comes true for Edge at WrestleMania.
Standing ikn his way, however, is Booker T, a five-time former WCW Champion, and the most decorated superstar in WCW history. Booker will be looking to make his WrestleMania debut a success -- and he's looking to do it at Edge's expense!
MY PREDICTION: The pure fact that this argument is over a hair commercial puts me off predicting anything in the first place, so I'll just make a random prediction. Booker will pull away a clean victory, but there will be interference from possibly Tajiri, costing Booker, or does he have another agenda with Edge?
So, now it's time for you to post up!
Godamnit the music on the WM18 site is weird! :0)
