I have broadband cable net access via NTL.

Does anyone know if the Xbox will work successfully online if I connect it to the cable modem?

Or do we have to wait for MS to sort something out?

And so you should be - 32 players in one game when it comes to titles such as Unreal Championship. ;-)

I think Microsoft are also looking into an online playable football game where you can have 2 full teams of 11 players against eachother. :-)

That could make for a great game as far as team work goes. Esepcially if they were to use the headset with it.

yes it is, but they havent got the online abilities yet. Like the DC, they said "hey you can play against people over the net from day one" Wrong it wasnt until Chu Chu Rocket came out about 8 or 9 months after the DC was released.

The only way to use Xbox online is by having a PC and letting the software from gamespy fool the Xbox into thinking its playing a LAN game.

Xbox should be online in the summer over in the States and then over here late 2002 or early 2003. But as Broadband isnt well established over here it could take longer.

But when Xbox does go online, we wont need any new bits of hardware unlike the PS2 and GC.

You can go online with your Xbox. Go to
http://db.gamefaqs.com/ console/xbox/file/halo_online.txt

remove space.

This will tell you how to connect your Xbox to your PC, then you will need the software from gamespy.

You cant just plug in the cable connection into the back, as online games arent supported. But gamespy found a way to link up the Xbox to the PC and let you play over the net through there software.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
