Yeah, it's quite cool. Not normally the sort of stuff I listen to at all, but it certainly is different. The guy deserves credit just for a bit of imagination, which is seemingly lacking in popular music at the moment.
As a fan of rock and lo-fi indie (and some dance), I recommend this as it's really original and pretty cool. You can see already that it's gonna get played to death and be all over, but enjoy it while it's there.
I've only saw some demented chap on the cover of the NME, I didn't read his interview.
