Don't know if this is an acceptable topic....but I'm trying to find out about 3D Accelerators........is a 3D Accelerator another way of saying graphics card or are the two different. And whilst I'm asking.....am I right i thinking that a video card is not for gaming?

Tried looking elsewhere on the web but no joy........hope someone can help or perhaps let me know (politely) where to go to find out.

Yep.....that does help. Trying to install Medal of Honour but keeps coming up with could not load open GL subsystem. I guess this means no graphics card! Thanks for the help and I hope your right when you say......

Basically your PC needs a "display adapter" to put images on your monitor. The very old ones were for 2D (normal display) because processors weren't fast enough for 3D games, now all 3D Accelerator/Graphics cards (they are the same thing) have the 2D display bit built in so do everything on one card.
