Grrr,

I don't understand the Censors? I really, really don't understand the Censors? Why censor a game that has an age rating on it? Surly fully grown adults arn't going to go crying to their parents? There was an old PS2 game called Twisted Metal Black that had almost 'all' of its character FMV stories removed for its UK release, making it an unfulfilling game once it was completed, but it did have a 15 age certificate on it? I just dont get the censors?? In the case of Twisted Metal Black, I read that there was a touch of incompetence with what they did to the game, but they still do destroy our games for us.

We know what he means though, somebody needs to talk to the guys who look at material that may need censorship, and ask them to be a little more consistent.

Where as films obviously don`t. What he's saying is that its unfair that games get censored, but movies don`t, for some reason assuming that an 18 on a film means it, where as an 18 on a game doesn`t.

If that were true, then everything would be censored, and age ratings would be abolished, not just in games, but in films.

Also, I believe Mr Snuggly is right about the September 11th stuff. I think lots of violence was cut due to crashing planes (or shooting them down) and other violent acts in the sky.

However, it still seemed way over the top to get rid of all the FMV, and it was a real shame they did it.

It'd be almost impossible to censor the internet.

How come the internet isn't censored? Are adults who serf the net more reponsible than adults who play video games?

People who copy violence in computer and video games are not normal people to start with. Putting cenership on some games doesn't make these people any better humans. These people will instead go watch a disturbing film and re-enact what's in that. Censoring games doesn't solve the problem of why some people do the things they do, it only gets in the way of responsible adults who are looking for some 'adult entertainment'. The adults you refer to that copy the things they see in games, will also copy other violent aspects of life. So the bottom line is don't go censoring 'adult scenes' just because a few people (freaks) go on a murderous rampage in the name of games(God).

But why does being over 18 suddenly been they won't be influenced by certain aspects of games? If something's so bad it has to be censored out, it has to make you think who would find enjoyment out of it in the first place, and whether we should even allow over 18's to have access to it.

I know quite a few people over 18 that are still stupid enough to see something on a video game and think it would be 'cool' to do it infront of their mates. Afterall, there are still a lot of criminals over 18, so it's not as if all people that age are old enough to know better.

The GTA series gets through the filter. Would you really want to play on anything else that's worse than that?

Well, if a few strange parents are going to start showing their children hard-core porn or people having their heads chopped off then I don't think it is a case for destroying everybody elses entertainment. Do you? If parents are going to show their kids, films or games that contain violence of an age group beyond that of the child's age then they need educating. Cernsorship imposes on other peoples rights to watch/play a film/game in its entirety.

I seem to remember content being removed from Twisted Metal Black relating to the Sept. 11th attacks, something to do with planes crashing etc. Couldn't be sure though.

WickedWare, I think you need to redefine what you call a question.

And anyway, anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together knows that an 18 rated game still gets sold to under 18s, and if not, then parents buy it for their kids anyway.

The censorship needs to be there because the discipline isn't.
