A number of you would like to see these for real, but really Holodecks are just a made up thing from a TV show. Why would we want this Star Treky rubbish instead of something better?
Why not look for something you can have in your living room. I have a great idea of one. Without taking the huge rooms how about computers that process games in your own room. Couldn't you imagine playing a game of Pac Man when your the good old Pac.
Or playing in a football game. You could be really playing it out on the pitch yourself without any minor injuries.
It amy sound like a Holodeck but it is better than that Non-Fictional stuff. Imagine playing a First Person shoot em' up in your whole house, you could hide inside your cupboards or behind the old Sofa! Or having a go raing a F1 car? You could be there in a flash with no crashing what so ever. That's what i imagine the power of consoles will be in the future.

A holodeck actually exists now, showing you that it is a feasable idea. But I agree that people don't want to buy a mansion to play a game. That is why a new development team is working on the gameshouse. It is a showhouse that could soon be put into use in everyday houses. A series of remote projectors [one in each room] project a stream of particle beams, at the sub- atomic level which are shaped [by a large thousands of pound supercomputer into images, ie. people. Because the stream is constant, a positron emiision [ from a new generation of light guns ] would disrupt the beam in a certain way that the computer understands and compensates for. Thus giving you the first real 3D shoot'em'up.
Other ideas include less accurarte V.R headgear, and holodeck like cupboards. How fun.

And even more exciting is the fact that all of this is true!
