Gamescom often leads on from E3 in content, focusing more on key games rather than trying to present everything in one go.

This year was no exception, though with Microsoft and Sony both selling their new hardware this November, there was an obvious amount of news regarding the new platforms.

At the time of writing, Microsoft has yet to announce the Xbox One release date, but they have announced a few new games and that Fifa 14 will be bundled free with every pre-ordered launch console.

They also focused on exclusive and timed exclusive content for EA games, including FIFA and Battlefield 4.

Sony focused mostly on indie titles for Vita and their 2 consoles, as well as exclusive content of their own from Ubisoft for Assassins Creed 4 and Watchdogs. An impressive showing of AC4 running on Vita via remote play and the announcement of a new free Liitle Big Planet Hub game on PS3 was good news.

The PS4 has been given a 15th November release date in US, with a 29th November release in Europe. This means the UK faces 2 weeks delay. It will be interesting to see what date Microsoft can come up with and if the release date will be the same globally.
