Hi there,

About to get an Xbox, spent most of the day considering the PS2 vs X box and think I have made the right choice but thats another story....

I have an old big screen TV that I will use to play on, but it doesn't have a scart socket.

My VCR does however. Can I plug the X box through the video with the standard lead and use it that way or do I need to buy a RF adapter (Not being tight honest, just plan to get new TV soon too :) )

Went to Tescos shopping and had a go on a couple of games that swayed the decision from the PS2, although the fact Sony have put a load of the classics in the platinum collection under £20 nearly won it.

Thanks

Adam.

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't thought about connecting and the possibility of recording DVDs!

Will have to buy a cable after all as I have used "it saves us £150 for a DVD player" line....

Went to Game on Saturday and they had the PS2 with DOA2 and an Xbox with DOA3 next to each other, no contest really!

I'm happy to get it and a couple of great games Halo and PGR and wait for a little while for more games to come out.

There should be no problem going through your video, except when/if you play DVD movies. I'm not if XBox disables it, but DVDs are encoded with "Macrovision", which basically means that if you go via a video recorder, the image is scrambled to make it unwatchable, and hence unrecordable!

Other than that, you'll be fine. I also think you made the right decision in getting an XBox over the PS2. I have a PS2 and it won't be getting much use now I can tell you. It costs more in the beginning, but you get a whole lot of hardware for your cash, and some amazing games!
