Another article at cube-europe states that the new nintendo exclusive final fantasy game will be called 'Final Fantasy N'. This is the information that has been released about it!
"Tentatively titled Final Fantasy N, Square’s Game Designer Studio division will create one game over two platforms. Both versions will feature the same maps, battles, dialogue and plot, with no difference other than in terms of graphical presentation. You play the GameCube version at home, probably using the GBA linked to the GameCube as a novelty extra screen. When you have finished playing and have to go out, you save the game, which will then transfer the data to the GBA and jump you to that point in the GBA version. You then go about your business, playing Final Fantasy N on the train, bus, or wherever, and when you get back, simply hook the portable up to the GameCube and it will jump to the same point in the home version. You will then be given the option to view any of the home version highlights, like FMV sequences, you might have missed."

Yer but FF's main target is the asian market and they all think it's gonna be PANTS!
I can't wait to see the Final Fantasy game on Gamecube!
:)
It's pretty sneaky, Nintendo had set up the 'Q' fund to help out new starting developers in exchange for GC supprt. Now Square wanted someway to get back the massive loss made by the FF film, and the GBA looked like the ideal system... but Ninty weren't gonna let them go to GBA that easily, they wanted some Final Fantasy action for the Cube...
So, Square set up an affiliate company to develop and publish (I think) the game for GC, and Ninty funded this affiliate with funds from the Q fund that had been set up. Now Square isn't DIRECTLY bringing FF to the GameCube, but doing it through a third party, which is in turn being funded by NIntendo...
Sounds as complex as a conspiracy theory and twice as unlikely doesn't it?!?
As we all know Sony recently bought almost 20% of squaresoft and surely sony would NEVER go ahead with anything that could possibly give a rival console the edge over them.
It's ludicrous
Seems to be more of a novelty value to me...
But how can one game run the same on 2 different formats???
How will it work well if the GBA's got a smaller 2D screen, and the GameCube is full 3D??
And the GBA also has less buttons and no analogue stick. BUt I do believe that the 2 should be able to link together as seperate games.
And it's great to see that it WILL be a Nintendo exclusive game!
