Released in the United Kingdom on this very day, to mixed, VERY mixed opinion. What's your view?
I think every PS2 fan will hate the Xbox. Why? Because it is pretty much what would be the PlayStation 3, but Microsoft. It has a massive release schedule, and Okay-ish controller, and is pretty much the same as the PS2 albeit better technology. I am a small PS2 fan; I have one, and enjoy it, but I don't rip everything else, and will also get a GameCube a.s.a.p.
So then, who has an Xbox? Hands up. And what games? To tell the truth, I wasn't planning on getting an Xbox, but I came VERY close to buying one today. Temptation, you see.
Anyhow, I know of a non-hardcore gamer, casual, if you like, who went to a shop at midnight last night and spent £500 on Xbox and attire. Crazy? Yup, especially since he isn't really that into gaming. A lot of people at my school are saying how good the Xbox is, and are giving it a chance. So what is of this mixed opinion then?
The press. The very, very bad press. On the radio on our bus on the way to school this morning, I heard one presenter call the Xbox an oversized t urd with Microsoft gloss. I think he mustn't be too keen on it then. Fine, I suppose not everyone likes the Xbox, but on the way home, on a different station, I had to sit through a five minute conversation of 'alternative uses' of the Xbox, because it is so inept at its proper usage. Hmmph.
So the Xbox has had a good turnout; I'm adamant that it has sold out - they always do. I'm just worried that all the negative hype surrounding the Xbox will die down, so the fans such as mentioned before can manage to enjoy their console. Oh, and just as an extra, its hardly surprising that my casual gamer mate didn't turn up for school today. Casual gamer? Not anymore, methinks.

As for the X-box...Hmmmm, I noticed a lot of casual gamers buying it just becasue it is new and must be good for £300.
Think I'll go and microwave me a box now...
