Is it just me or would console gaming be far more interesting if there were more than three or four consoles to choose from. For argument sake, there was ten different consoles all made by different companies. Then the number of games for each console numbered a round hundred. That means you would have a choice of ten consoles and hundred different games for each one. This would in my opinion be far more interesting than 4 consoles.
If there were more consoles than just Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo choosing game would be far more interesting and the prices would be lower as each company would have more competition on it’s hands so they would have to try and encourage gamers to but there products.
Another benefit of this system is, there would be more games ideas on the market if a hundred different companies were making games then there would be so many good ideas for games for us to choose from. As today we would get the some copies but that happens to day as well so it wouldn’t be a new thing. The chances are with so many console about then the games companies would want different ideas so to give them an edge on there opponents.
So I reckon that this world of gaming would be far better if there were more console and more games to choose from.

More consoles wouldn't necessarily mean more choice, though.

At the moment, we have - or will have - three consoles. And the majority of games are being released on all three.

It would just be like the VCR market - you can get the same films to run on all of them... the only choice to make is how many bells & whistles you want in addition to the basic software.

I'd rather the same amount of developers made for less consoles, so I could buy more games instead of more machines.

You gotta have some competition, but the 3 we have now is more than enough to keep all on their toes.
