I'm sure most of you have recently heard that the Xbox 360 Arcade package has hit the shelves not too long ago, but looking at what it has to offer, I believe they are trying to force their way into the Wii crowd.

I mean, firstly - it is basically a 360 Core system, with the neat addition that they are ridding the wired controllers from their packages. Secondly, you get a free 128 memory card with the console package with 5 Xbox Live Arcade games (luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket, Pac Man CE, Feeding Frenzy and Uno). And as Microsoft are currently producing the 360 entertainment pack (Forza 2 bundled with an extra white controller) a lot of places are throwing that in for the price of the console.

How much? £199.99. Only £20 more than the base price of the Wii. In fact, with the addition of the extra controller and forza game, it works out better value than the Wii.

I extend this to the novelty market. Surely you are aware that different consoles have already introduced vile cloured substitutes of their base models to get younger players and... girls... *shudders* interested. Just kidding there btw. Who can forget the pink PS2 or th sell-out Pink DS Lite? I have now seen different coloured controllers for the 360 - a weird pale greeny one, pale blue and some sort of strawberry milkshake coloured one as well.

Is this acting to increase sales byaiming the 360 at another market? With the release of Viva Pinata Party animals on the horizon, I believe it is.

This can only mean good news - more sales = more game rights. I believe now the 360 will win on sales in the UK this christmas.

Unreal Tournament 3 and Devil May Cry 4 (even though it's multi-platform)

The 360 will come out second in sales, providing Nintendo get enough consoles in shops before the 25th.

PS3 is picking up a lot though. Not enough for this Christmas to get ahead of the 360, of course, but more sales can only mean more support from developers and more sales from that again. Good news for PS3 owners, especially since there are some top titles now out and on their way at last.
