Hey fellow gamers.

I believe that in the near future, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft should put all their knowledge together and expertise together and make the ultimate computer console!

It should have it's own moniter ( mainly 20" ), have a modem for the internet,a good hard drive, 1024mb RAM, the best graphics card ever created, wireless controllers, don't have to have a memory card, be able to play imported games BUT NOT CHIPPED GAMES, be able to watch TV on the console with the moniter, can use the console as a DVD recorder aswell, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft send users free games through the internet but not games what they are planning to sell in the shops, just short mini-games, that's another thing... the prices for the games should be around £30 not £45, have it's own game rack to put all your games on.
You know, that sort of thing...

If anybody wants to add anything else, you are welcomed to do so, same if you have any questions or anything.

Thanks

Yeah, but then there is no competition against these consoles, it would be like the PS2 saga, not as many good games came out than what should have, all of a sudden, competition arrives and so do the best games

What a stupid idea for starters can you imagine MS and Sony working together, what would be the benifit to Sony as the clear market leader.

Then there is the problem of having one console for all where is the competition, this would make for a lack of quality titles, essentially they could produce what they wanted and that would be the only thing to buy, and also charge what they liked for games.

It has to be said that it is not the power of the Console that makes quality games, but how developers utilise the software and hardware on the console PS2 for example has the lowest spec of all the consoles, but that is not shown up. I liken it to the fact if you had a game like the Lord of the Rings Two Towers and did not tell anyone what machine it was playing on would you be able to tell (i think not).

Lap dancers, you forgot the lap dancers!

Each one of these console should also come with your very own, private lap dancer :-p

* On a serious note, only 64MB of AGP video memory? Shirley on this 'wonder-machine' - or maybe it could be called a 'Wonder Mega' ;-) - you'd be looking at 256MB as a minimum.

Build your own console.

This is my idea.

4 Power PC G4 processors each at 1.25Ghz
Multi-processor management built in on chip. This way software/game designers dont have to "worry" about task sharing between the 4 processors. Instead, they design to a single spec, and the on board software works out the best way to share the work load over the 4 CPU's.

Each G4 CPU already has on board L1 and L2 cache.

4 x 1Mb L3 cache cards on motherboard. Rather than a single "shared" cache card, each processor would have it's own L3 card.

2Gb Ram (4x 512Mb). Would also interleave in pairs for extra speed.

Built in 120Gb HD

Sony BlueLaser DVD drive. This 30Gb DVD system would read all new BlueLaser DVD games and movies. With the extra space, all BlueLaser DVD movies could be Hdef. The extra space would also allow for even larger games with even higher quality graphics. In addition, it would work read back CD, DVD Video, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD, SACD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, and DVD-A.

10/100/1000 Ethernet card.

4 USB 2.0 spec sockets for add on's and controller's. Fully USB compliant so allowing extra handsets + devices by plugging in a USB HUB.

1 FireWire socket.

On board DD5.1 and DTS with Optical socket.

On board 5.1 decoder (set of 6 phono's) for analouge transport of DD5.1, DTS, and high resolution audio from SACD and DVD-A.

Graphics card based around the fastest AGP chipset. Extra chip set to enhance for tv use - as per existing consoles. But also a "straight out" feed (with adaptor cord) to allow direct connect to PC monitors. HDef, SCART, Composite phono, and S-Video adaptor cords also avaliable similar to now. Video Ram would be about 64Mb.

BlueTooth engine on board. This would allow the customer to buy an optional wireless handset without the need for any extra "adaptors".

A remote control as standard for menu setup's, and cd/dvd playback.

You could say its like a PC, but it would be good if this console was smaller and easier to set up and play at, say..., a mates' house, like a PS2.

What you have done is basically describe a PC, it's own monitor, wireless controllers (you can get these, just go to SR page....) and no memory card etc. Thats just a PC!
