What is it? The strongest emotion one can have?

Or is it the thing that chokes me when that girl goes by (she will be mine - oh yes, she will be mine ;)?

Thoughts please....

Bah Phil. Stop being clever. I think it would be better having loads of different words for different types of love - Because I could say I loved you. Which would be true, but only in the friendship kind of way. Can't we have a word that communicates that, instead of me confusing all these strange people on here?

Also, yeah "love" is really overused. It shouldn't just make you smile, it should make you stir inside, it should make the pit of your stomach leap. It has done so for me, but then you think "what if this person is just saying that because they 'really like you'" Which means a lot, but isn't love in the 'true love' sense of the word. See...

Isn't love just saying that you really care about someone. Or is love just another way of just saying "I really like....." Caring about someone, spending the rest of your life with someone or really liking someone..? Whats the difference? Lots. But we can all use the same word. We could use the same word for really liking eating chicken. Or drinking beer.

It annoys me so much that something like this can be so confusing, when it doesnt have to be. Sometimes it can be so wrapped up in emotion, wouldn't it be easier just be able to say "I love you" without confusing the other person half to death? I know this will never happen, but I never seem to be happy with -some- term that means so many different things, I NEED EXPLAINATION! "Do you love me enough that you could spend the rest of your life with me" "Do you just -love- spending time with me?" "Do you love everything about me?" Its not fair. Why does everything have to be so complicated?I am just a confused little person...so I'll just hush now and leave you to be as confused about this post as I am...

Lovable resident malicious git, I might add. :0) He speaks his mind, and it's scary what he thinks... he's a genius who has trouble communicating, that's all.

Yeah, the word love is overused. I'm almost postitive I'm never going to meet someone I'm going to fall in love with... I'm not looking, but I'm not reclusive. It's just the most important thing I need, is to be able to talk to someone. I just can't do that with so many people.

Hopefully, I've got plenty of life left to live. If I fell in love now though, my head would explode. Far too much happening to me at the moment.

Hm...meet Sniper, katie, resident malicious git. English is generally fairly good for descriptions, hundreds of years of invasions has given us a fairly wide vocabulary - far wider then most other languages. It's not only that we lack the words in this case - I don't see that having a different word for different "types" of it would help, we know what we mean when we say it, but as it's an emotion, the perception differs from person to person - I don't think any other words we did have for it would be any more meaningful.

I know what I mean. I'd ramble, but dinner calls.

It really depends on what 'type' of love it is...Ok, so I didn't know this until my friend told me, but in Greece they have loads of different words for love. For example...the kind of love you have for friends, or family. I think that the English language should have as many different options as other languages, then we might be able to define it.

An emotion that no longer has any meaning due to countless movies and songs.

Give me Romeo + Juliet any day...who says you can't fall in love at 14, aside from TV?
