Cartoons.

Some rule. Good Cartoons, rule. Silly Cartoons. I'm referring to fun ones, such as the looney toons, Roadrunner Tom and Jerry and wacky races, I like them for one of the similar reasons as to why I like retro games: Simple, addictive and fun.

Simple:

The ideas are pretty crazy, featuring talking animals and a trillion deaths that don't make you die, but they're still simple, a hunter chasing after a rabbit, for example, or a coyote/cat looking for food. They are simple enough for anyone to understand, young and old, and funny enough for someone young or old.

Addictive:

You just wanna watch them. Not in the sense that everyday you look in the T.V. guide to see when they're on, but if you've got nothing to watch and you happen to flick past cartoon network and they're on, I often find myself watching them, just for a laugh, unless of course there's a program I want to watch on.

Fun:

They just are. Stupid ideas in animation that make people laugh.

They are drawn quite well as well (well.....). All of them. Bugs Bunny, Dick Dastardly, Coyote and the rest all look good despite that they have been drawn over a million times.

Another great thing about these ones is that they are rewatchable, unless you've seen them toooo many times. They do have some basic rules, though:

1.) Good guys win.

These cartoons were originally designed for kids, so you don't want baby's crying everywhere, so the good guy has to win. The only time I've ever seen the villains of the above mentioned cartoons was comically, with Dick Dastardly and Tom. And it works. One of the biggest factors in these cartoons.

2.) Talking Animals

It's something that also attracts the attention of a child. But, this is a rule that has been broken, by the brilliant Tom & Jerry. But because of this, T + J is as famous as it is now. But that's the only exception.

3.) No-one dies, but pain is there.

Nu-uh. No way. You might be hurt severely, but despite the unrealism of it, you will NOT die. And, you'll probably only see being visibly in pain if you're a bad guy. The good guys might have something happen to them that would cause them pain, but you won't see them looking all banged up.

Those are the basic ones. Tell me if I missed any out. Now onto another type of cartoon. Japanese.

These are, how about……… Crap! Japan may make unbeleiveably good video games, but those cartoons are right at the bottom of my cartoon-o-meter. Examples include Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon and Tenchi. Dragon ball Z is just slow, boring and repetitive. Tenchi is lame, and as for pokemon, well, little creatures who have the ability to dig holes and say their name repeatedly doesn't appeal to me. Moving swiftly on then........

Comedy! Yes! The group that is popular with many around here including Cdouch. Examples are The Simpsons, Futurama and South Park. South Park may be a bit immature, but I still find it’s a good laugh, despite the poor animation involved. As for Futurama and The Simpsons, they are just genius. Hilarious yellow blobs and making fun of the future, Matt Groening and his crew have made one of the most successful T.V series ever. They are addictive, and unlike most American shows, make fun of the U.S. The thing is, nowadays when I think of them, I don’t think of them as cartoons, I think of them as fantastic comedy. Everyone knows about them so I won’t blab on.

Well, that’s all for my cartoon rant. Au revoir.
