Bought it from a shop in town
Played it till my thumbs were red
was the summer of '89
Me and some guys from school
Played multiplayer and we fought real hard
Bobby quit, stevie got a Sega
shoulda known we'd never get far
But when I look back now
that summer seemed to last forever
and if I had a choice
yeah, I'd always wanna be there
those were the best days of my life.
OK now, I'm not complaining
Because Sega's games were so poo
But what on God's green earth
was up with Mario 2? YEAH!
To me life was just so good
I thought that my NES would last forever
But then came the SNES
and in it's way it was so much better
those were the best days of my life
Oh YEAH!
Back in the summer of '89
Oh Man we were killing time
We were young and restless
and needed to unwind
I guess nothing can last forever, forever, NO!
and now the times are changing
the markets dominated by the PS2
but I still play on the Nintendo
and by God so should you
Cuz though it looks bad now
Nintendo's gonna last forever
And if you wait a while
Sony will look like essex slappers
these will be the best days of my life
O, YEAH
Back in the summer of '89
Woah yeah, the summer of '89
*(obviously Brian Adams - summer of '69. Inspired by er-no)*
