I just saw this advert for pet insurance and it said that dogs start from £8 and cats from £5. Why? Is it because a majority of the dogs are bigger, or because cats are generally smarter and won't die as easily? This country.

Don't get insurance for animals!

Just open an account and put away money in it like you would with insurance!

It worked out better for us AND we had a £1900 vet bill for our dog!

Dogs tend to be more active in the daytime and are at more risk of being seen. Cats operate at night and cannot be seen as easily. Thus my arguement is that dogs need to insurance themselves at a higher rate, as they are more likely to be caught by Rolf Harris and his Death Wagon, rounding up victims for his happy hospital animal show or something.

Anyway I could be wrong or just misguided.

Another reason for higher insurance is due to those individuals who insist on having their pet's corpse back after it has been put down. Due to health and safety reasons the innards have to be removed. What the vet gives you back is in fact a dog husk, stuffed with barley for weight and the preservative value.
This naturally incurs extra costs, for both barley and labour (they are known in the trade as "scoopers").
I know it seems harsh on those who own dogs, but the answer is to get a smaller breed of dog as they are in a lower insurance category.
Jack Russells are in the insurance world considered a Punto, whilst Alsations and Dobermans are large executive models, possibly 4x4s. A Rottweiler is often considered to be on a par with a Range Rover, possibly with bull bars.
The best solution is to get rid of your dog while you can - its quite easy to unload them onto a homeless person in exchange for a couple of Big Issues, or just leave your dog inside a car in the summer as it will naturally get confiscated.
Next, buy a cat as cat corpse disposal is quick and cheap (its how ICI made a name for themselves). The corpses can also be recycled and made into a variety of props for country sporting activities, including a derivative of clay pigeon shooting. This all lowers the burden on the insurance companies, who incidentally do quite nicely out of the cat ivory trade.

Dogs are more expensive to insure primarily because of size.
Wheh they are put down and incinerated they take up more incinerator space therefore more fuel.
We just took ours to the Koreans down the road, saved a few bob.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
