I can see no reason why we shouldn't ferverently discuss the ins and outs of which of the next generation consoles is the best, but why do so many people want their prefered console to be seen as the Death Bringer missile of the console world, on a laser guided path to blow all opponents out of the water and into oblivion?
The only GOOD reason I can see as to why anyone should be worried about their console not being the best is the possibility of a sucessor causing the bloody and untimely demise of their beloved machine as a comercially viable product, resulting in their £300 having been spent on a white elephant. Is this really likely with the current trio of consoles?
The PS2 already has a massive customer base, and an ever growing range of quality titles, including Metal Gear Solid 2, widely regarded as the next step in gaming. I can't see it dying out over night from this position, can you? The X-Box has massive power, easy PC-Console conversion scope and the Global Might of Bill Gates holding the gumshield and water bottle in it's corner, which is seeing Microsoft scale the console gaming ladder like it's got a rocket up its a*se. Last but by no means least, the late coming Game Cube is the latest offering from arguably the greatest console manufactuer the world has ever seen, a company that has barely put a foot wrong through out it's 20 odd year history. None of these consoles will be too weak to survive in today's gaming market.
So chill out! Buy any one of these top notch products and you shall not be disappointed. Then, by all means, come and tell us all how good it is! But you don't need to prophesise the downfall of all off your baby's industry rivals, because it ain't gonna happen and deep down you know it!
