Let it be said out loud:"I'm a racing fan".

Many games have caught my attention throughout the years, beginning with the first feeble attempts at racing revolution, such as Outrun, Pole Position, Burning Rubber and more, through to the recent Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed, Carmageddon: The Death Race and GP3 to name but a few.

Advances in 3D-graphics have meant more involving, exciting racing experiences. However, I'm still looking for THAT feature. The feature that's gonna blow away the competition. I am of course referring to the ability to look around inside the car. NFS:PU had almost reached this pinnacle of achievement, however I want the freedom to, using the mouse or keypad, look at ANY point inside the car while driving.

Imagine having to look down to see the dash, up to glance at the rear view mirror, and out through the side windows to see your opponents being passed (or passing, god help us!!!)...

To me, THAT would be the next best thing to actually being in one of those musclecars in person.

yes this would be nice to have, but if you think of some of the rally games you need to know where your going in the first place if you want to go around a corner without hitting the ditch and flipping the car, so if you wanted to take a look at how your opponants are doing then you wil have missed the turning before looking back or if you want to see how your feet are doing then you get whip lash or your head would just fly out the window as your car crashes into a rock face.
Many flight sims do this type of thing, but you need to be going around MK3 and flying around some tightly space buildings for it to be a threat on crashing into something. I think you would have to pause the game, take a look at your car and then unpause and finish the race.
I don't know if this happens to you, but when I play a game and it's getting really close and my mates pauses the game for a little breather, this looses my concentraton and some timing when running/driving around certain places, as i don't know when he will unpause!
You know how when you take a penalty and your mate cuddles his controller so you can't see where he/she will shoot, thats what happens, it's annoying! So even if you could look at your dials and co-driver it would put you off.

Yeah! That would be great. I love the fact you can do so in Alliance (X Wing), you can look to the right to see ships flying past... Its so beautiful... sniff...
Looking foward to Midtown Madness 2, and driving a Mini through London, and an Aston Martin... hurrah!
