Ok lets just get the facts right to start of with when a new console comes out it always boasts that it is the most powerful e.g. the xbox is doing it now and will be for the foreseeable future. Having the most powerful console it a good advantage but it is making use of that power which counts. Over the past few years we have seen the most powerful console lose against its competition e.g. the Nintendo 64 a classic console with game which did make use of its power with games like Zelda and Perfect dark ect ect. The Nintendo 64 lost against the Sony Playstation for two reasons:
1) Sony spent a lot more money on advertising
2) The Sony Playstation came out about a year before the Nintendo 64
Another example the Sega Dreamcast never had much money spent on advertising and it came out at the wrong time if it had of come out well before it did it would have had competition from the likes of Sony and Nintendo and probably would have won and if it had of come out at the same time as the Playstation 2 it would not be dead now.
This is why I think the xbox will win against the PS2 and the Gamecube because Microsoft have a lot of money to spend on advertising there budget is $500 million which is a lot and it has come out at the perfect time over here in the U.K. in-between the PS2 and Gamecube plus it is the most powerful and is already making use of its power. Another great advantage is that there is a factory in Hungary, the U.S.A and if they make there targets in Japan they are planning to make a factory there. All this means that they will not do a “PS2” and not make enough consoles.
Another great reason why the xbox will succeed is that it is new to the market and are not known for doing anything bad in the console market this was a magor factor in the playstations success.

PS2 has a worldwide userbase of about 22 million. That is not going to topple quickly. XBox may come close, but the PS2 has this round virtually assured, like it or not.
