Exeter university fencing club (of which I'm the mens captain) today progressed through to the semi finals of the BUSA national championships.

And what's more, we've barely had to win a match.
Here's how:
We're in the second regional division. Top two qualify for the BUSA nationals. Four teams pulled out at the start of the season, unable to feild a team at all. Of the other two teams, two of the total four matches we were scheduled to play were forfeited due to the fact they were unable to get a team together, or had dodgy equipment.
We qualified top.
BUSA nationals, first round.
Our opponents are unable to make it to us, and so forfeit the match.
BUSA nationals, second round.
Again, our opponents couldn't get to us on the day, and forfeitted.
BUSA nationals, quarter finals.
Our opponents arrived an hour late, so we only had time to fight two of the three weapons. We were 90-50 down after the first two (an utter thrashing), but we get all 45 from the one that we couldn't fight (their forfeit for being late). So we win, 95-90.
Now we're into the semis. This is the fursthest we've got in years, and we are going to get absolutely trounced.
Unless of course, it's a home game and our opponents cancel again...
