So last week I applied for a job with Barclays Bank on the internet and was told that I'd be screened for the job by meta-morphose. I passed a telephone interview and was told to come to the assessment day. When I got there, there was a room of about 50 of us with no idea what was going on.
Turns out they werean agency that work with the companies to get them in and you need to get on their books to find jobs similar to the ones that I'd applied for. I felt conned as nowhere along the line was I informed that the job I applied for was non-existent and nor was I informed that I was expected to just go on the agency's books.
Wasted a day's holiday from my current job, spent 5 hours in traffic and only to be informed that i wasn't good enough for them anyway.
Surely agencies shouldn't be able to do that? A lot of people there applied for jobs not relating to sales at all. Thank god that I know what I want from this job hunting experience and acted a fool so they wouldn't take me on. Still feel cheated though. Anybody else have any related experiences?
Hope you find something else soon. I'm interested to hear the Uni story, all the same...
