In the weeks before Christmas, confusion ran wild
Whatever to buy for that game-loving child?
And for the adult, something older is due
But just what it would be, you haven’t a clue.
But do not despair; rejoice and don’t fear
Special Reserve is offering some gift-buying cheer.

The elves scurried about, anxious and hopeful. Each stocking must be stuffed, each present carefully wrapped. Each child regardless of age has a wish list, some written down, some merely whispered in a hopeful "Dear Santa" voice.

Soon the snow would be falling, and trees would light up with the heart-warming glow of lights reflected in bouncing, shining bulbs and silver streams of tinsel. Golden halos of garland embrace the tree, hugging tight the love tucked beneath.

As one of the dutiful elves hoping to make Yuletide wishes come true, you’ve gathered the lists, clung to the dropped hints and have been to the stores, only to be confronted with shelves jammed with brightly colored boxes, names running into one another as each tries for your attention.

Let’s see, the title had a "2" in it. Uh-oh, many of them do. Or maybe the wished-for item was simply mentioned as "a game." Not too much to go on for one of Santa’s helpers.

That’s where Special Researve comes in. I've come up with a list of games that I believe would make any game player’s day. And to make your shopping even easier, I've included them down below.

The sleigh stands ready, reindeer eager for flight
This trip is sure to make your holiday bright
So onward to PC, PlayStation 2 and XBox,
GameCube and GameBoy, here’s some lists that rock.

PC

Christmas is a time of magic, wonder and delight. And that is exactly what some of these titles on the PC holiday shopping list have in common. Ok, so you may have to break out an axe or sword to hack and slash your way through these wonderlands – just remember the age-old adage: it is better to give than to receive.

Whether you are looking for adventure in faraway lands, or just looking to take out a little of that holiday stress with a well-designed shooter program, the following games offer something for just about everyone on your gift-giving list.

‘Slay bells ring, are you ready?
Grip your weapon, hold it steady…’

Not perhaps the famous Christmas carol, but considering the titles selected by our reviewers, maybe the revision is a little more appropriate. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Publisher: RockStar Games

This game features the same great gameplay as its predecessor with several nice tweaks to the formula. Plus, the game’s unique “eighties” style will delight anyone.

One of the best 2D to 3D conversions since Mario and Zelda hit on the N64!

After a long hiatus (and a few guest shots), Samus Aran finally returns in her own game. Many may cringe at the fact that the game is now a First Person Shooter instead of a side-scroller. However, fear not, the game retains amazingly true to the feel of the old-school Metroid games while featuring excellent graphics and fun gameplay.

It's not an FPS, it's not an action/adventure game, nor is it entirely like the Metroid games of yore. You'll be amazed by how unique and clever it is. Metroid fans will love it, but even casual gamers will be impressed and immediately be engrossed by this stellar game.

Move over Laura Croft … the original video game heroine is back and badder than ever in this FPS rendition of one of the best Nintendo games of all time. Fantastic sound and great visuals … man, this game is awesome!

Fast and furious action that will make this game a GameXube favorite.

I read the first thousand words, then in a spasm, my finger clicked the scroll bar and just skipped the rest of it.

It was a little long, I liked the rhyme at the begining though.

Since I'm probably the only person to have read it through, nice effort, nice rhyme and a generally jolly old Christmas-themed post. Although I would debate some of the games you put up there as to how good they are...
