“The controller is too big!” “The console is too small” “This bed is too soft!” “This porridge is too cold!”.
I haven’t, in all the valuable minutes spent perusing the mind-wrongs of console wars, seen a single valid reason why I should choose Xbox over Gamecube or any other system out there.
You can stand their waving your nappies about your head all you want to, doesn’t make any difference.
It comes down to personal choice and no amount of goo-gooing from you can change anyone’s mind.
I chose the PS2 because I had a PSX and thoroughly enjoyed it. I choose to ignore the Gamecube because I had an N64 and thought it was one of the biggest wastes of money I’ve even spent.
Now, before you start getting red-faced and spluttering into your coco-pops, read that last bit carefully.
“Because I had an N64 and *thought*….*I’ve ever spent*.
Purely my choice, for me, based on the fact I’ve experienced the Nintendo style of gaming and it left me close to tears.
I’m not saying Nintendo are crap, I’m saying I think they’re crap. Doesn’t make it so though does it?
I’ll get an Xbox because I love playing PC games, and I like new consoles. New toys are good.
But based on my Ninty days, I know that the Gamecube isn’t my cup ‘o tea.
Meka loves them, and that’s cool for him.
I like PCs more than anything else, because the variety of games available make it worthwhile. I don’t go near my PS2 that much to be honest, I’d much rather stick on Medal of Honour, Black & White, Flashpoint etc.
But again, I’m only speaking for myself.
But go into the other forums and you’ll see “Sony suck!” “Xbox is rubbish” and they’re not intelligent, well thought out posts explaining why.
Instead, you get the impression that some people have mashed the keys with their face and then gone to watch The Tweenies.
You like this console here, I like that console there.
They’re both good, they’re both bad.
Doesn’t matter what I think of yours, and I don’t care what you think of mine.
Stop crying, grow up and get a PC.
Because *all* consoles are for wide-faced children that like to chase hubcaps and ride the Sunshine Bus.
I mean, I think Costner rules too, and me and Goatboy both think Cannonball Run rules, and loads of other stuff we agree on... but not consoles.
I think the PS2 is a great console, yeah, but I want a Gamecube first. Perhaps it's just I bought all the right games for the N64, and you bought all the wrong games... bah. Perhaps we just have two different paths of tastes, and at some points they cross.
Bah. That's enough console wars stuff for one day, anyway.
Right now that's out of the way:
Goaty my goat, I feel exactly the same way. I once had an N64 (fortunately I didn't buy it though) and I thought it wasn't fantastic. Sure, as a games console it was alright and may have kept me entertained at a pinch, but for me the PlayStation is and was so much better, there was no comparison. I've never been a great fan of Mario or Zelda, and a big huggy bear and his pet bird bouncing around a cartoon land with "doing doingy" music in the background is not my ideal way to spend a Sunday afternoon either. So sue me.
I have a PS2 by the way.
Field of Dreams. James Earl Jones saying "Back to the 60s! Get back to the 60s!"
Horses for courses.
Different strokes for different folks.
Whatever floats your boat.
Free will, but not Free Willy
Choose a game please.
Enjoy what you like and don't worry if some people don't agree, I mean Goatboy likes Kevin Coster, but it doesn't make him an a complete freak.
"Dry land is not a myth"
So enjoy your consoles.
(i'm not reading back what I just wrote, I'll post it aware that it's stupid, but not care)
