Jody Fliesch whatever his name is, was amazing. Great stuff from him, my favourite of the night.
Apart from GMS of course. :D I disagree with shaneo he certainly wasn't cack, but he was nothing special. He can perform much better and was obviously restricted by the extremely poor ring (it sagged when you stood on the top rope so the Hip Hop Drop looked weak), but he did manage to pull of some decent stuff like a missile dropkick.
What I'm most pleased about is that he hasn't changed a bit!! :D Fantastic!
Jody Flash won the tournament, after defeating Doug Williams. I've seen both of these guys wrestle live, and they're pretty spectacular, including a Shooting Star Press off of the top rope to the outside! After the match, Jody was handed a medal by Tom Billington aka Dynamite Kid. I was pleased to see DK, but saddenned to see what a state he's in (a wheelchair).
Eddie Guerrero and GMS both appeared...and lost. Eddie did some great chain wrestling with Doug Williams in his last bout of the night, and GMS did pretty cack to be honest.
The ring was really very small, as are almost all independant rings. I was please to see all the backstage stuff/interviews with an English accent, not trying to impersonate Americans :0)
On another note, there is an independant show evert 4 or 5 months here, so it's possible that either Eddie or GMS may appear at the next show :0)
I've met Jody Flash. My mate (whose dad is the ring announcer), showed me the locker room, and I just asked him if I could have an autograph and he signed it. He had a bag in the other hand, and he still stopped to give me it - he is a quality guy, and if you ever have the opportunity to speak to him, I suggest doing it. He's my favourite Indy wrestler. At one of the shows, he went for an Asai Moonsault, but slipped off of the ropes :0)
Anyway, yeah Jodi is pretty good. Lightheavyweights NEED a small ring, that's why the WWF fails so badly when it comes to cruiserweights
Some messed up spots, a TINY ring, AWFUL commentary, terrible acting
But some good talent on show. I'd heard of Jodie Fleisch, but I'd never seen him. The Pheonix DDT = wow!
Who won?
Pity it's almost finished.
