According to sources, Nintendo is almost assured a victory, gaining all the profit's made by Sony off the Playstation since its introduction in 1996. Even if Nintendo do not win outright, they are guaranteed the rights to the Playstation name, and Sony will have to immediatley change the name of their console."
This is what will make Nintendo systems go flying from the shelves people. The "Nintendo Playstation," people won't know the difference, unsuspecting customers everywhere will be buying Nintendo, thinking that it's Sony. Sony is in a world of hurt."

On the actual topic:
From Gamersnewsnetwork.com
I was able to recently talk to an industry insider (whom wishes to remain nameless) who says he's been hearing through the "community round table" that the whole legal issue between Nintendo and Sony has been going on for some 4+ months. Apparently, again according to word of mouth, Nintendo has been looking into legal issues involving the Playstation
The more we think about this at GNN, we are starting to see where the rumor may be a little more exagerated than false. We're starting to think that, Nintendo, being an intelligent corperation, may simply be taking steps to insure future legal strategy, and may not be doing anything at all. Any corperate lawyer or individual for that matter, as seen by our insider, takes percausions for times of trouble. Nintendo's little legal issue may be nothing more than legal research that someone got out of hand with.
However, to keep you all excited, I was told that he says the real "Megaton" announcement is an "8 out of 10" on the excitement scale, and in his personal opinion he believes that it is not a merger. He also believes that the Megaton images are "obviously doctored."
:.We here at GNN have a few guesses as to what the announcement may be, including a future Earthbound sequel or a possible online service, which would explain the "discontinued" label on Babbages computers of the Broadband Adapter. While I was at EB today, after work, I did notice that the Broadband adapter was restocked (almost shi tting myself). This could be a signal of such an event, however, we'll be monitoring the source of the information and watch for the final story break in the next few days. Unfortantly, everyone who claims to know the truth has given us the answer that they are "legally bound" to not devulge information on any Megaton information. As for proof on the lawsuit? When asked, our insider stated that he initially heard it from word of mouth, and says the proof will come if and only if Nintendo files a lawsuit and it becomes public knowledge.

Nintendo rumour round up
Rob Fahey 11:46 03/12/2002
A brief look at the rumours making ripples on the Internet in the last seven days
In the absence of much real news as the industry winds down towards Christmas, one can always rely on Internet forums to fill in the gaps with wild speculation and crazy rumours. Silly season has truly begun - and this year's silliness is pretty much unmatched in any previous year, mostly thanks to the rabid conspiracy theorists in Nintendo's fan base. Here's our handy guide to the "stories" currently floating around the web, ranging from the almost credible to the completely bizarre...
-------------- -------------------- ------------ ----------------- ------------- ----
Nintendo is set to buy Sega and Capcom!!
Nintendo fans are the Lone Gunmen of the gaming world, always ready to greet whatever words escape the lips of Nintendo Japan with a million and one loony conspiracy theories. A passing comment by NCL president Satoru Iwata earlier this year about how difficult it has become to impress consumers with new hardware was quickly spun into an incredible yarn about Nintendo's withdrawal from the hardware business; so you can imagine the reaction to the company's "megaton" announcement - an announcement expected later this month which will, according to the company, have a massive impact on sales of GameCube hardware.
Not content with new games, price drops or online strategy announcement theories, the most popular Internet rumour is that Nintendo is set to announce that it has purchased both Sega and Capcom, and that both companies will be working exclusively on the GameCube as a result. The story would certainly be a "megaton" announcement, representing the pooling of three of the biggest creative companies in Japan to work on one console.
And the evidence? Sketchy, at best. Several forum posters claim that it was officially announced on some websites before being pulled only minutes later; some believe that current heavy trading on Sega's stock on the Nikkei (mostly due to parent company CSK re-evaluating its holding in the company) represents the beginning of a Nintendo take-over. There's also the fact that Capcom and Nintendo, in particular, have grown very chummy over the past year, with five new high-profile titles from the publisher joining the Resident Evil franchise in Cube exclusive land. Nintendo and Sega, however, are drifting further apart if anything - with Sega today revealing a brace of titles for the Xbox and PS2, with only a solitary niche-interest sports title for the Cube in the announcement.
--------- ------------------------- ------------- ------------------ -------- -------
Nintendo owns the PlayStation brand!!
If the concept of Ninty buying up two of the biggest publishers in Japan seemed a little far-fetched, get a load of this. The theory du jour among many Nintendo fans at the moment is that what the company actually plans to reveal as its "megaton" announcement is that in fact it, not Sony, owns the PlayStation brand.
Yes, you heard right; Nintendo owns the PlayStation brand, it's planning to take Sony to court over it, is guaranteed a win and then Sony will have to hand over all the cash it's made through the sales of the brand. Oh, and then the GameCube will be renamed to "Nintendo PlayStation", guaranteeing massive sales of it to the ignorant masses of punters who don't know any better.
The evidence? We're not actually sure. The origins of the story are unclear, but apparently lawyers studying the original agreement between Sony and Nintendo to develop a CD drive for the SNES (an undertaking which spawned the PlayStation project at Sony after its collapse) have suddenly noticed after all this time that they own the rights to the PlayStation brand. Riiiight...
Yes, people actually believe this. Presumably they also expect the megaton announcement itself to be made by Shigeru Miyamoto on the back of a flying pig…
Heh heh. I'd like all of these people to be proved wrong, but I'm thinking along the lines of updated serieses, whether that's Earthbound as suggested or some other big ones. And I think definitely other software companies (Sega, Capcom or whatever) are devoting themselves to the Cube.

Still doesn't make sense!
GDP is the flow of goods and services...
GNP is the final output of all goods and services in an economy...
You just talked crap for about 10 minutes...
Live with it!
:c)

Hell, I might as well ask Tony to tell you to stop talking so much rubbish. Anyway, why'd you need Tony to do it ? We're not at primary school now you know...
As for influence...well I'd bet that;
a)only you think I have any influence anyway
b)I don't care if some newbies re influenced by little more than a bit of typing
c)Oh do go away and stop making up crap, what stats are you on about you loony...
BTW bought new NGC today, and it thoroughly put me off buying MP4, whihc was disappointing. Like the look of Blood Rayne though, and Clone Wars.
~~Belldandy~~
Bloody greedy Nintendo.
Belldandy is a corrupted regular and a microsoft fanboy
I often make mistakes in my wording, but I am in no way a fanboy. If I was told of more Blinx/super mario type games for the X-box, I would happily buy one. It seems like one of the best consoles out now. next to, of couse, the nintendo gamecube.
And one last thing. Can tony please ask beldandy to stop making up stats, he has unfair influence over newbies.

You're right, I misread. It is 20 billion pounds. Although you're quote on England's GDP is waaaay off. I was thinking GNP :-).
