If an MS super computer is serving, I don't think that the amount of players joining will be a problem. Perhaps it'll be sorted by the main launch.
Come on Mr Beta tester.
Do your job and tell MS to sort it! :-)

If you have 512K ADSL or cable you can easily play on a 8 player game or even host a 8 player game. The 16 player games on the dedicated servers for Unreal are laggy, but this is probably due to being in the UK when the servers are in America. The 16 player games are too hectic anyways as most of the maps are only designed for 4-8 players, with some of the bigger maps supporting 10. 16 games for me have been on the whole laggy, and I was really disappointed with it as these were the first online games I played.
I can easily host a 8 player game and thats not laggy at all, and only uses just over half of my bandwidth, so I should be able to get about a 10 or 12 player game going quite well.
Unreal is the only game I have experience any lag on, that was major. Games like Moto GP have a little lag with some players, as you can see them darting around the screen, but this is there problem not yours. MechAssault has had no lag at all, only once did a Mech teleport from one place to another, and again it was that persons connection not mine.
Overall XBox Live is lag free. Unreal is the only game I have experienced with major lag, and that was on the big 16 player games.
