I mean, it takes so frickin' long to go nowhere, and even a decade of faded memory after reading the books didn't make the storyline interesting or unpredictable for me.
There just didn't seem to be any actual content other than running about fighting things in various locations, any plot or characterisation was bland, generic and lame.
And 3 hours? What were they thinking? It might have passed for a pretty dull film if they'd split the first book into two films, 1 1/2 hours each, but when they make you sit through twice as much absolute lack of anything interesting... are they frickin' stupid?
I really don't see what the hype was about. Terrible, terrible film, the kind you would say was only saved by the fact that it finished, if it didn't go on FOR EVER.
Might give the sequel a miss then.

Arwenwasintroduced. What's the point, she only appears in the third book and has a tiny part then. It's probably because she refused to act if she didn't get a big part.
They missed out Tom Bombadil! I was really looking forward to seeing him. Then again if they'd put him in the film would be 3 and a half hours - too long!
> Also it's a kids movie but look at the name, how ruuuuuuuuude
