Last week I was in Malia in Crete and on one of the main roads to the beach was an entertainment complex that consisted of a shopping centre, bowling alley, cinema and an arcade.

At the front of the complex next to the road was a stand that had an F1 car with a sign next to it that said it was an F1 car that Michael Schumacher drove in 2001.

The photo of the sign isn't very clear (it was taken about 3am and the flash reflected on the laminate) but it says something to the effect it was a car that Schumacher drove in 2001 to 9 wins and 5 pole positions.

The photo showing the front of the car gives a good view of the tyres which were absolutely wrecked - you can probably see from the photo they're just about bald but close up they were totally cracked with rubber hanging off the side as though they'd been used in an F1 race.

I was just wondering if you thought this was a genuine F1 car raced by Schumacher? It just seemed weird one of his cars was sitting by the roadside in Greece.

If so how much do you think it would be worth?

It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be, about 7 feet long and when I went and sat in it it felt very flimsy - OK it's made of fiberglass but it was almost as if I sneezed on it it would fall to bits.

Just wondering if you thought I had actually sat in one of the F1 cars Schumacher had driven or if it was a hoax?

What a bunch of cynics. :)
We know the cars and/or parts get auctioned off. So difficult to say with certainty its not at least some of the actual car.

I think its a replica. The white Fiat logo on the front looks unprofessional, as does the Vodaphone logo. The nose and back are a bit too square as well.

I'd say 2001 was optimistic. If it was anything, it would be 2006 as that front wing looks very much like last years. I'd be very surprised if it was genuine as in full kit and everything works. I'd probably guess at replica.

A real one would cost a bit. A cheap F1 car can be put together for £750,000 but you'd be looking at probably a few million.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I very highly doubt that it's a real car that Schumacher has driven.
