Anyway, lads, I need help understanding certain bits of Memento.
1.) Who's telling the truth, Teddy or Guy Pearce?
2.) The final flash scene, with Guy Pearce lying in bed with his wife with the tattoo "I've done it" on his chest...what is that supposed to mean?
Damn, my head hurts. I need to go watch Dogma.
Cheers,
Stryke.
And the hospital bit is pretty cool.
And Ed Axley.
As for the "I've done it" tattoo, I only just noticed this when I watched it last night. I pondered over it for a good half hour, rewinding the DVD to watch it over and over again to try and work it out. In the end, I concluded that I thought it was his imagination. You know, like he's killed the guy and done what he wanted so he'll get his wife back. At that time, he is narrating it saying "Is the world still there when you close your eyes?" And then he jerks his head as if he is waking up and says "yeah."
Still, I don't really think you're meant to know who is telling the truth.
Extremely clever film!
And I noticed something else for thew first time last night too. When he is talking about Sammy Jankis and it shows you him in the hospital, he actually turns into Guy Pierce for a split second. It is Sammy up until somebody walks past the screen, and then when the guy has passed, there is a split second where his face has changed to Guy Pierce's. I can't believe I didn't notice it the first time or even the second time as it seems so obvious.
And who else thinks the music in Memento is absolutely brilliant?
