Read this taken from Cube-Europe:

Uri Geller attempted to sue Nintendo in 2000 over a claim that he was used as the likeness for the Pokemon 'Alakazam'. Despite his 'psychic' powers, he couldn't persuade a US judge...

(full text - http://www.cube-europe.com/newsphp/news.php?id=3111)

For a start, what makes Uri Geller (rubbish name) think that Nintendo wanted to base a Pokemon on him? Clearly this is being very smug, no? You see, if Nintendo did base an actually Pokemon on him then it would have disasterous results.

Take a look at this scene from a High School Playground:

Kid A: I'll swap you my Pikachu for your Mewtwo.
Kid B: No, tell you what, take Uri Geller instead.
Kid A: No he has a rubbish name.
Kid B: But he can bend Spoons.
Kid A: So can I.
Kid B: Please take Uri Geller...
Kid A: Please don't make me.
Kid B: Sorry, or I'll have to sue you...
KID A: Ok, anything but Uri Geller the famous Pokemon who is not actually a Pokemon.

Thinking back to the Pokemon days all I can remember was that Alakazam was one of the most ugliest creatures out of the bunch. But clearly Mr. geller doesn't think highly of himself as this Pokemon 'looks' like him and 'acts' like him. Sorry, but Alakazam has a moustache and is Yellow...

Take a look at this scene from Nintendo HQ:

HQ Guy A: Dude, we're being sued.
HQ Guy B: By whom?
HQ Guy A: Uri Geller.
HQ Guy B: So, he sucks.

Nintendo and other big companys must get really fed up with messes like this. You make something big, you have alot of money, people want that money and so sue you for the stupidest things. All you can do is laugh in the end.

Uri Geller - Idiot of the day.

Good post. Yes, Uri is a goddamn imbecile who should be eradicated from the face of the earth. Harsh but fair, methinks.

Since Uri Gellar claims to bend spoons with only his mind, they have become associated with being psychic. And the only similarities between Alakazam and Uri Gellar are that they both have spoons, and are both (allegedly) psychic... Aside from that I don't see any physical similarities...

Surely he'd have a better case against Red Alert 2 with Yuri. Yuri. Uri. Pretty similar huh? And both are 'psychic'.

Anyway. Yes. If you're gonna have psychic powers, at least have decent ones. "Oooh, I can bend spoons." So can I. I pick em up and use my hands. "But I use my mind." Pfft. Darth Vader could strangle dudes using the force. You can only bend spoons. Go see Yoda and learn some decent tricks.

I can't believe that anyone would try to sue Nintendo over something stupid like that.

This guy must be thick in the head.

Kirby was based over me. I don't care - it's good publicity, and sad 17 year olds say Hi to me in the street.
