Actually your probably getting hacked now on your PC. Install a firewall and you will just see how much illegal stuff may be getting into your PC from people who want to hack. Some days i've been connected and had 100's of attempts of hackers.

Heh, don't forget that it is likely that one day you will have a nice little harddrive attached to your PS2. Then you better pray you are properly protected over the net!

And if you use a router for the broadband PS2 service, the chances are it will have a firewall built in anyway.

How can they corrupt your game, its on a DVD disc which cant be written to. So what if they steal your memory card files, as long as they dont delete them.

Anyway the chances of anyone be able to hack a PS2 over the internet is less than you getting all 6 numbers on the jack pot. If your so worried about hacking then dont put your PS2 online when it comes out, as then it will never get hacked, unless someone comes over to your house to personally hack it.

No as there is no connection to the internet via your PS2 yet. Also once PS2 is online it will be a secure system with no hackers. Anyway why would someone want to hack your PS2, it has nothing that can be useful, they might be able to delete game files from your Memory card but thats about it.
