I am still waiting to hear from Sony about my PS2. I filled in the form at my local Game in the early hours of the 7th of Sept and I have my blue form. I am getting more and more anxious the longer I wait.

I thought that I would start this topic and people could put up the latest info that they have heard from Sony, sites, mags etc on exactly what is going on with the ordering process.

I would also be happy to hear from the first person that receives confirmation and what sort of date they have been given for collection.

I have had the blue form sent to me and some e-mail confirming that my order is being proccessed, and that I am in line to recieve one. But there has been no mention when. All I keep hearing is 'we are unable to give you a date as there has been overwhelming support'.
They say that they will get back to me soon when they recieve any info on the release date.
Also I have just learned that the UK will have the same ammount of PS2 consoles as the US. They have just slashed the US allocation in half, so expect there to be around 500,000 available on day of release.

You had it sent to you? Presumably you ordered from Special Reserve, or another mail order company? Was your e-mail from the supplier, or direct from Sony?

See the thread I started - "PS2 pre-orders - official reply from Sony" for more info.

Sorry to be a pain, but can you quote the source of this info so that we may all see it with our own eyes? There are many rumours flying around on forums such as these, and I'd like to be sure.

Got this reply to a query, yesterday from SonyHi,

Thanks for your enquiry with regards to your PS2 pre-order.

Please note that the order form does state that you will receive
confirmation of your order withiun 14 days once your order has been
validated. Validation occurs after your order form has been sent to the
retailers head office then on to our database management agency who then
have to upload your details.

Once this has occured you will receive confirmation within 14 days.
Therefore it may be slightly longer than 14 days from the date you ordered.

I'm afraid that we cannot guarantee anyone specifically a PS2 on launch,
you will receive communiction further to your confirmation letter,
informing you of when your unit will be ready for you to collect. However,
upon completing the form you are guaranteed one of 200.000 units due in the
UK before Christmas.

Regards,

Simon

The 500'000 units rumour for the PS2 in the US and Europe has been confirmed by most of the gaming sites (Daily Radar, C&VG etc) . I thought that the UK was due to get 200'000 however and I am a little unsure whether the 500'000 is supposed to cover the whole of Europe or just the UK. I hope just the UK but judging by the mess that Sony have made of this so far!!!!!

I have my Blue form as I pre-ordered from a Game store. I have not heard anything since the 7th however. I am hoping to get an email from Sony soon to at least tell me that they have not lost my form!!!

This is from C&VG

America provided a furious response to Sony's decision to halve its PlayStation 2 hardware allocation for launch on October 26, smashing the promised 1 million units down to 500,000. SCEE has confirmed this morning that Europe will receive the same number for the machine's initial issue on November 24.

OH no if that is fall all of europe. More details should imerge over the weekend.
