That 'guide' is written with VIP in mind that's all.
So to answer the OP's question, yes Freeola's free hosting will be fine but you will need to add a MySQL package as WordPress needs that.

FWIW You can also use WordPress with Freeola's Standard/Free hosting - but as with VIP hosting you will need to add a paid for MySQL package :¬)

If you read the opening paragraph of Freeola's guide to installing Wordpress, you'll read that you need a VIP package. So to answer your question, the answer is no ....
