Hi

I have uploaded my files from Frontpage via Freeola's FTP but when I either click on 'View this site' button or google my web address it comes up with the website hosted by Freeola page and a message saying that I haven't uploaded an index/start/home page correctly. Where have I gone wrong? Please.

Thanks for your help Hmmm. I decided to take out the vista drop down menu and just add hyperlinks.

Glad to hear that worked!

Re. 'vista buttons' I'm not familiar with them and it's rather hard(!) to say why they aren't working without seeing your website...

If I had to guess I would say it's because you haven't FTP'd the Javascript files or something similar assuming they are working for you on your local machine.

Hi Tilsie,
Yes, try renaming the file so it's all lower case - index.htm :¬)

You have found the problem ... this isn't the same file, infact you have two! File naming is case sensitive, so Index.htm is Index.htm and index.htm is index.htm.

Solution would be to make sure that your 'two' files have the same name case-wise.

Hi Hmmm

Thank you for the welcome.

I am still getting the same message when I either put the web address in the browser bar or when I press the View this Site button in my Freeola Account. I have uploaded all files including the index page via my Freeola VIP hosting to the root directory htdocs and checked that they are all there. The only difference is my index page is named Index.htm as against index.htm. Could this be the problem?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Sometimes a new site can take a little time to be available so are you still seeing the problem? (When you say 'Google your site' I take it you mean type the address into your browser address bar? Obviously if you site is brand new Google won't have indexed it yet.)

If you are then your index.html (or index.htm, index.shtml, index.php) needs to be FTP'd to your htdocs directory (Freeola's Standard Hosting). So you might want to check you have a correctly named file in the right location?

If Freeola see this post they can take a look to see where (if) you've gone wrong :¬)
