I've just done a BT speed test, and my downstream speed is 1Mbps slower than my IP Profile.
Is it meant to be that close? I thought your IP Profile was supposed to be noticeably higher than your max downstream speed.

In an ideal world your speed test results would be very close to your IP Profile.
It will always be slightly lower due to technical 'overheads' but if there isn't any congestion or other issues then it should be close.
NB. On an ADSL2+ connection like I think you are on you should also be seeing an IP Profile that is 88.2% of your sync speed.
I should update my old ADSL Max IP Profile table one day!
