So yeah, I was having a gay life on the buses yesterday (Don't worry if you don't get my meaning there) so I had a bit of time to kill before my bus left for home.
I went into HMV, and there was an Xbox demo pod. Wandered around the store till it was free, then had a go.
Unfortunately it was Project Gotham Racing, and I'm not a fan of realistic racers, so I wasn't likely to say "Best game Evar!!!!11" or anything.
Firstly, the controller wasn't as bad as I was expecting, though still not very comfortable. The shoulder triggers were quite nice, but the buttons didn't seem well placed, or have a nice feel to them. The control stick wasn't in a great position, felt slightly over-reached to get to it, so resorted to the D-pad for control.
So anyway, started to play the game. It looked alright, like a typical racer. Slid about a bit, got some Kudos, hit a wall and lost them. Found the control a bit dodgy, thought I was driving a car without power-steering, to be quite honest. Had two goes, but left it with a bit of a frown.
Yes the console if big, but it's not a big issue (though a Gamecube could fit beside my VCR, an Xbox couldn't)
One word to describe my experience with the Xbox?
Underwhelming.
But I was playing a game in a genre I'm not a fan of, so I'll give it another chance if I see a different game demo.
Ergonomically I think the UK XBOX pad sucks big time, though I have

Surely you're not saying the PS2 pad is better than the Xbox one. I am a PS2 owner but I don't really like the controller. The shoulder triggers on the DC & Xbox controller are essential for driving games.

Have still yet to be impressed with the XBOX, played with one several times, but can't get round the size of the thing and it's ugly presence...
It definately lacks in something...
