Changing names is getting beyond a joke. I thought it was mildly comical that people were changing names to characters from Star Wars and films like Lord of the Rings but something I read today in the newspaper just takes the biscuit.

Some idiot has changed his name by depol to Playstation 2. He says people made fun every now and again of how he loved his PS2 so much so he thought he should change his name to Playstation 2. Ok Frodo Smith would be slightly understandable but Playstation 2 Smith?!! He also said he tried to get married to his PS2 but he couldn't find a vicar to do it.

Loving a PS2 is one thing but this is taking it too far don't you think? It's got to the point where it's a joke. I'd be ashamed to know someone called Playstation 2 Smith or Playstation 2 Bloggs. What a mad world we live in today..

Now that's just feckin ridiculous! It's one of two things: a publicity stunt or a desperate plea for help. I agree with Go Johnny Go Go Go Go that he'll return to his "old" name soon. Imagine the coroners report, wedding certificates etc. His kids will get some stick! :0)

Think about it though. How much money has he now made from this?

The newspapers can't run the stories for free, and i'll bet he's now a very rich man considering how much coverage has been devoted to the story.

If anything, people like Mr Playstation 2 understand one of the simplest ways to earn a few quid, even if it does mean some legalities have to be sorted first. I wonder how long he'll stay Mr Playstation 2?

My money's on his old name returning somewhat shortly.
