Naming 151 different characters for one game (or different version of the same game) sounds pretty difficult right?

Naming an extra 100 sounds a lot more tricky too!

So how did they guys at Nintendo and their Pokéteam come up with names for an extra set of Pokémon for the Ruby and Sapphire games?

Here are some ideas that I reckon could have been used:

1.Shigsy and the gang all drank pints and pints of their vilest bitter until they were so drunk they couldn't even speak. Then, the bloke from Banzai came along, gave each of them a piece of paper and a pen, and asked them to name all 151 original Pokémon. seven days later and a collective hangover that could have collapsed the Berlin Wall, and the gobbledy-goop presented on the paper just happened to become the next set of Pokémon!

2. At a Nintendo press conference, Mr. Miyamoto himself had been suffering from exhaustion after playing Luigi's Mansion for 27 days in a row. So all he could mutter at the press conference was "Luigi....Luigi...Luigi....." However, one time he messed up in the pronounciation of the green plumber's name. When later questioned, Miyamoto didn't have an answer about "Lugia" other than "It's the newest Pokémon for the new games on the Game Boy Color." Maybe he did the same thing 100 times over for Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

3. One of the creators of the Pokémon series went on holiday to Spain and tried to pronounce all the different place names...

4. They picked 100 names at random from the Nintendo of America staffing list.

5. They called the Pokémon names like "Bob, Judy, Fred, Sarah" in the Japanese version but translated them into Japanese for the English Language versions.

How do you think Nintendo came up with the names? (I'm tired and have been talking about bearded ladies for the last five minutes)
