Can I put a ssl shopping cart on my site?

Easy answer is obviously, yes (I hope) but does Freeola have a recommended package? If not, anybody know of a cheap - if not free - shoppping cart that I could use.

Really basic stuff - item identifier, credit card details and then pass the order to fulfilment.

Thanks in advance!

I know what you mean. However, my system is purely cash-with-order - accepting credit cards is much too expensive. I might consider PayPal at some point. I do not store customers' addresses - they can do that with a cookie on their own machine if they wish.

Security is a big issue, plus other things like Data Protection, Secure Servers and Verisign (or similar) verification (which will cost about £300). There's also issues around accepting credit cards such as the fees each one takes for you to be able to verify their validaty etc...

Actinic are probably the best solution, plus they help in setting up and running and provide excellent support...

Don't forget that Freeola offer PHP scripting but not the MySQL database system that most PHP shopping carts require.

BTW - I wrote my own cart because I couldn't find one that did exactly what I wanted. I chose to *not* store customer details, but I do store the orders so that people can track their order status.

You could, if it was done with CG/PHP which Freeola support.

However, it wouldn't be secure for proper order proccessing, with Credit Card numbers and all. Freeola don't offer customer sites the SSL encyption.
