"""Nintendo have signed a deal with Sega.com for the provision of on–line gaming for the GameCube. As a gamer what this means for you is that developers will now find it easier to create networked games. This is because sega.com will free developers from the burden of implementing and maintaining the links between yourself and other gamers.

Interestingly, Sony have also announced they are using sega.com meaning it’s possible that both PS2 and GC owners could ultimately be able to play together on–line."""

Playing online with your GC against someone who has a PS2 will be great.

And then theres the Xbox being a Billy No Mates!

although Xbox will be able to play online with all of them in theory, and can already be played against PC users.

to be honest, i wouldnt want to play against PS2 users on my cube, it wouldnt be as good, graphics and speed is not as good and to be honest the only games i would wanna play would probably be the ones that are cube exclusives!

graphics and speed arent as good? which do you mean, gc better than ps2? or vica versa?
we all know that the ps2 is a more powerful console in theory, but imo the cube is better in practice. and we dont play games in theory, do we?

also wanting to play cube only games online? what about sports games and driving games? these games are multi format (such as nba and burnout) and would be better to play them against ps2 gamers. sega sell the best sports games and they sell much more on the ps2 than on the gc (fact - read press release a week back). this means that online sports games would have a much better community for the ps2 than the gc.

but then again, id prefer to play ssbm and mario cart online before nba 03 any day.

Amos.

To be fair, the PS2 has a better processor than the GC, and when it comes down to online play, bandwidth and processing power are the most important features of online games.

Good graphics is of little importance as the console rendering frames has nothing to do with how fast the console is, it depends on the features available on the GPU.

Processing power has virtually no effect on online play. It will sap a little bit, granted, but you'll make up that deficit by not having to run AI routines all over the place.
